Q-Tip is back in the studio working on a new album now that he has a new solo record deal. Formerly signed to the DreamWorks Record label Q-Tip who has also been known to go by Kammal since being a member of A Tribe Called Quest, Q-Tip never released an album on the label. Q-Tip released his biggest album to date as a solo artist in 1999 titled “Amplified” on the Arista Records label and a jazz based album titled “Kammal the Abstract” in 2002 but it was never released. There has also been talk of a reunion album between Q-Tip and A Tribe Called Quest, who have been doing spot dates together as of late, but no plans have been made to hit the studio. Q-Tip will be guest appearing on the Chemical Brothers new album “Asteralwerks” and R.E.M’s new album “Around The Sun.

Jermaine Dupri has postponed his planned all star “We Are The Future” tribute with some of hip-hops biggest names scheduled for next month. “The timing is not right for us to record a song about the future when so many people have lost their lives”, Dupri said. “We will proceed in a few months, but right now it’s about helping those who are dealing with the tsunami disaster and that should honestly be the focus”.
