Nas emphasizes the importance of history in a clip from Hidden Colors 3: The Rules Of Racism.
“To know your history is everything,” Nas says. “No matter who you are, especially Black, because you’re constantly being told that you were nothing but a slave. No one began as a slave. That’s not what God put you here for.”
Nas also addresses the idea of slavery and education on his single, “I Can.”
“If the truth is told, the youth can grow,” Nas raps on the track. “They learn to survive until they gain control / Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes / Read more, learn more, change the globe.”
