Michael Jordan’s influence on Mike WiLL Made It’s “23” music video was apparent. The songs guests, Miley Cyrus, Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa, reference Jordan in their verses. Mike WiLL Made It recently spoke about how Michael Jordan felt regarding the video for the single.

“The first day the video came out, [Michael Jordan] saw the video and he liked it,” Mike WiLL said in an interview with MTV. “He was like, ‘Man I like the video.’ He was like, ‘Thanks a lot.’…He said he watched it a couple of times right then and there and he had to reach out to me.”

The sneakers were an important part of the video, according to Mike WiLL Made It.

“I understand that sneaker culture and I understand that Jordan culture,” Mike WiLL Made It said. “I know you want to get Miley looking fine as hell right here. I know you want to get Wiz and Juicy…But at the same time we have to get these shoes.”

Before the “23” video was released, Mike WiLL spoke with HipHopDX about the clip.

“It’s like a school setting,” Mike WiLL Made It said in an exclusive interview with HipHopDX in September. “It’s like a pep-rally, a school scene…The video is like, I go in, I take over the school, trick the principal and start playing ’23’ over the intercom. The whole school is turnt up. Everybody just starts going ham…It’s kind of how I came into the game. I came in, this new dude, that kind of just took over the game and brought everybody together and ended up being kind of the cool kid in the game. It’s the same shit with that.”
