Motor City emcee Danny Brown caused a brief uproar on Twitter last month after threatening to leak his upcoming album, Old, if those behind the project didn’t “get it together.” And during a recent interview with Fuse, the rapper laughed off his threats of an Old leak and revealed that he was merely “talking shit.”

“Just talking shit man. Everybody know I wasn’t about to God damn leak my album,” Brown explained. “But I knew the God damn album wasn’t coming out. It was just too many sample clearance issues we was going through. And it was what it was.”

The Fool’s Gold Records emcee later shared a few details on his much-anticipated LP and spoke on one particular featured artist who gave him quite a run for his money lyrically.

“I got Freddie Gibbs who murdered me. I don’t say too many people, but Freddie Gibbs got down on me on that track. But it is what it is. He’s supposed to though…It’s better. I mean, I had more time to work on it,” said Brown when asked how Old compares to XXX. “I had more money in my pocket. I’m less stressed out. I’m just having fun and making music so it was just no stress making this album.”

Brown may have found himself without stress while working on Old, but the Detroit wordsmith has again found stress on the U.S./Canada border. The rapper was expected to perform in both Edmonton and Vancouver, Canada on September 11 and 12, but was denied entrance into the country despite allegedly having his paperwork together.

With two shows in Canada scheduled at the top of next month, fans of Brown have created a petition on Activism.com requesting that the XXX rapper be allowed into the country. As of today (September 12), the petition is just short of 600 signatures and has a goal of 10,000 signatures.

Old is currently set for release on September 30 via Fool’s Gold Records.
