After showcasing their turntable skills with their 2002 album “Built From Scratch”, the X-excutioner’s seem ready to give lessons on the style of a DJ with their new album “Revolutions”. With guest appearances from Dead Prez, Ghostface Killah, Cypress Hill, Black Thought, Fat Joe and many others, the target market for their album seems to be focused on the streets.
“What we’re doing is introducing the art form in stages,” Rob Swift told MTV. “In some ways, Revolutions is an extension of Built From Scratch because once again we worked with MCs to show the connection between the DJ and the MC. A lot of groups don’t even have DJs. Hip-hop nowadays has become so separate. You have b-boys in one corner, MCs in another and DJs off in a corner by themselves. But hip-hop was originally about being able to do it all But at the same time, we’re just so much smarter about recording now. We understand how to make music using the turntable as the main focus but still keeping it understandable so that any average Joe off the street could enjoy a song”. The new album “Revolutions” is slated to hit stores June 8th.
