Anticon recording artist Serengeti (a/k/a David Cohn) is releasing his Kenny Dennis LP on June 25. The project is a journey into the mind of Serengeti’s alter ego Kenny Dennis and a sequel to the self-titled EP.
“Kenny’s just telling current stories,” Serengeti said about his alter ego in a press statement. “He wants to give people a heads up and offer some life advice. ‘Hey listen up to me, I’m wise.’ He’s getting more confident, even though he always was confident.”
The alternative Hip Hop artist continues to do things in a different way with tunes that go against the grain of mainstream Rap. Serengeti has been rapping since the early ’90s, at least, but signed with Anticon in 2009. His first project with the label was Terradactyl, a project he did with sometimes production partner Polyphonic.
‘Geti is known for weaving his knowledge of Chicago culture with his music. One of his songs “Don’t Blame Steve” was covered by the Huffington Post, and puts a humorous spin on the Chicago Cubs “Steve Bartman” incident. Serengeti is his alter ego Kenny Dennis in the “Don’t Blame Steve” music video. He continues the Kenny Dennis saga with his forthcoming LP.
