After releasing their debut album “Too Hot for TV” last week, Bad Boy’s newest group Da Band has been riding high on the top of the charts, although someone in their own Bad Boy family might not give their well wishes.
Dylan, Sara, Ness, Freddrick, Babs and Young City (formerly Chopper) knew they were going to have to prove their skills as rap artists to the hip-hop community after having their recording process and their home life shown to the world on MTV’s “Making the Band”. “To me, I don’t know if Da Band feels the same way, but it’s judgment day. We done walked to Brooklyn, stayed up all day and night, slept in one hotel room. This is the day of proving. We gotta get out there and move some units,” Ness told MTV. With an album produced by such hitmakers as Tony Dofat, the Trackmasters and Rockwilder, hits such as “Bad Boy This, Bad Boy That”, “Hold Me Down” and “Stick Up” are sure to become club favorites.
Although everyone seems to be behind the groups success The Hoodfellaz, a group that has been on the Bad Boy roster for awhile, doesn’t seem to share in giving the group its well wishes. The Hoodfellaz released a song underground titled “Taking the Band” where they say Chopper is ugly, Babs is the man of the house and make fun of the episode in which Diddy has the group walking from Manhattan to Brooklyn for cheesecake from Junior’s.
“It’s like this: Please don’t bring them up during our time, they’re not that important,” Fred said. “That junk don’t go nowhere outside New York. They big as Hot 97 and they don’t go nowhere outside New York. Nobody knows who they are in Delaware, nobody knows them in Miami, nobody knows then in New Orleans. Who is Hoodfellaz? They wack. You sorry bastards!”
