FOX News Host Bill O’Reilly Says Justin Combs Should Give Up His Scholarship

Following news that Justin Combs, son of Sean “Diddy” Combs, had earned a football scholarship to UCLA a number of people were eager to step forward with their opinion on the matter. Most recently, FOX News host Bill O’Reilly voiced his opinion on the controversial topic.

While O’Reilly did congratulate Combs on earning the scholarship he went on to state that he believes the scholarship should be returned and given to someone else due to Diddy’s wealth.

“[Diddy] should’ve said, you know what, we’re not gonna take it. We’re gonna give it to another kid, because there only are a certain amount of scholarships, even though they’re corporate paid, they are limited, so they should’ve stepped back, paid their own way and let another kid have the scholarship,” said O’Reilly, according to the Orlando Sentinel.

Combs will still be receiving a full athletic scholarship to UCLA and despite critiques from others UCLA spokesman Ricardo Vasquez has defended awarding the scholarship to Combs.

    1. of course he said that because he is racist and usually says something negative when it regards a black issue..he should stfu i thinks its good diddy is making his son work for his.. just because its diddy $ dont make it justin $ ..Justin finna be a grown man..all kids dont have access to they parents $

      1. Does bill think all rich white trust fund babies should give up there scholarships too? Of course not. Im white. This is ludacris ( no pun intended hahahah)

      2. @nick..of course he doesnt think that its only because its a successful black rapper if it was someone less popular/rich at the moment say like juvenile or fabolous kid he wouldnt give two shits but diddy almost a billionaire n they dont like that shit

    2. i think it was someone on espn made a point that this has happened to other rich/famous peoples kids like joe montanas son yet nothing was made of it.

    3. I already expected a honkey cracker stringy haired, blonde hair, blue eyed, pale skinned buttermilk complexion, grafted, recessive,
depressive, ironing board backside straight up and straight down, no frills, no thrills, miss six o’clock, subject to have the itch, mutanoid, caucazoid, white cave bitch to talk some bullshit about a rich black man’s kid. SMFH

      1. Damn. Racist much?

        Sincerely,

        Another Black Guy

(By the way, if you’re going to insult someone, don’t rip off old Ice Cube songs)

    4. of course THIS guy would say that. He actin like no other rich kid in the history of rich people have ever got an athletic or academic scholarship. Diddy didnt get the scholarship, his son did. Justin Combs aint got no job. He should accept the scholarship and give back or donate in some other kinda way.

    5. Really is Ludacris hahahah. Its not like he recieved the sean combs scholarship of excellence.. Its a football scholarship

Bill o reilly is an idiot. Take away scholarships of trust fund babies n see what he says

    6. it’s a non issue. the kid obviously earned it diddy should just take the money he’s saving and donate it.

    7. He has the right to state his opinion. Furthermore, what he’s saying makes sense. A fucking football scholarship? lol It’s not like the kid is going to UCLA to do something meaningful with his life. Give the scholarship to someone who needs it more. Diddy’s kid already has his life path planned out, and while he has the right to go to a good school, front the bill Diddy. Do the right thing. Send the right message.

      1. But why is this such a big issue? There has never been this kinda news coverage about a rich persons kid getting a scholarship. Rich kids get awarded scholarships all the time and its not a big deal. JUST because hes Diddy’s son he should give it back? You dont think Diddy would donate money regardless of him getting a scholarship or not? C’mon son.

      2. Nothing meaningful? Wow!! What a crass and classless judgement, like uve done anything meaningful with yur life. He’s both a student x athlete. If you’re not doing more than just being a student then don’t judge so harshly. Back 2 the topic @ hand, it’s the Comb’s family’s right to give up the scholarship or not. No matter how much money u got, it dont grow on trees! Plus they could now use that money for other investments or charities. Plus the yung man earned this scholarship, he earned it – thats a big deal for some1 who’s prly never earned a thing in his life.

      3. hes not going to do anything meaningful in life? are you stupid? Do you have any idea what his major is? Do you know what his minor is? No you dont. Making that comment makes me believe youve never set foot on a college campus much less taken a single class in higher education

    8. If they were just an average, rich, white family we would have never heard about this….It only has so much attention because Puffy is a famous black rapper….This shouldn’t even be an issue…Kids pay their own way through school all the time…Not all parents pay for their kids education.

    9. I originally thought that Combs should turn it down, but if fucking Bill O’Reilly thinks so too I may have to reconsider my position.

    10. He doesn’t need this scholarship his father is rich as fuck ethnicity doesn’t even matter this isn’t fair to the talented athletes that cant afford tuition to universities that have a chance, the scholarship should be given to someone who cant afford college tuition diddy beat Jay-Z on the forbes list if memory serves correctly

      1. doesnt matter how rich his dad is. His dad wasnt the one on the field and his dad wasnt the one in the class earning those grades was her? No he wasnt. Justin EARNED those grades. Justin Earned that scholarship.

    11. @nick..of course he doesnt think that its only because its a successful black rapper/business man if it was someone less popular/rich at the moment say like juvenile or fabolous kid(still rich but not on diddy level) he wouldnt give two shits but diddy almost a billionaire n they dont like that shit

    12. Look at the big picture. Nobody of any other race has had this much scrutiny for EARNing a scholarship just because their parents are rich. Folks actin like rich kids dont get scholarships. You would be surprised. They just dont get all this attention. Does Justin have millions of dollars? NO! Did he apply for this scholarship? NO! Does Diddy ever donate money? YES! All the time.

    13. I love how the peanut gallery on HipHopDX always comments on Bill O’Reilly being “racist” and “right wing.”

If you guys actually watched The Factor outside of the times his quotes appeared on DX, you’d know that he goes in on white people all the time.

He’s not even a right winger. He’s just a pompous asshole. Stop acting like he singles out black people and praises white people all the time. He trashes just as many white people as he does black.

      1. He’s not a pompous asshole either….He just puts on a show for TV…He doesn’t have real opinions on most of the things he talks about…He just acts this way to get paid…And you all buy into his act by watching it and hating him.

    14. More attacks on black achievements, that’s all this is. I expect nothing less from this guy.

    15. I’ll go even FURTHER. He’s rated a 2 star prospect by rivals. A 2 star prospect means D2 or low D1. Either UCLA sucks EXTREMELY BAD in football that they are giving full scholarships to 2 star football players or Diddy pulled some strings. I know REGULAR people with a higher GPA who went to good schools and the best they could pull was historically black colleges. Now Justin Combs earns a FULL RIDE ATHLETIC SCHOLLY TO UCLA? Something ain’t right about that to me. He isn’t even highly touted. Most guys would be walk on players with that ranking.

    16. I am sorry but I have fraternity brothers who parents were rich but they earned scholarships and I do not recall anyone telling them to return their scholarship so someone else can have it. Justin not only did well on the field he also did well in the class so I do not see why he should not take the scholarship unless he says he wants to give it away. We talk about people earning their own way, he did that.

      1. How rich are we talkin? Worth 500 million rich? Buy your son a Maybach for his birthday rich? Or they both make 200,000 and have 2 cars rich

      2. doesnt matter how rich. Those kids EARNED IT. The SMART rich people make their children earn EVERYTHING they want so that way they can understand the value of money as well as the rewards from hard work.

And also diddy is worth 500mill if he were to liquidate ALL of his assets. Meaning hed have to sell everything he owns down to his draws to get 500mill.

    17. lil nigga got a maybach for his 16th birthday, yall keep acting like he earned this shit but you know they only gave it to him because of who his father is

      1. that was probably the most ignorant comment ive read here in a while. A maybach is a gift, but a football scholarship? Are you crazy? UCLA doesnt give a shit about who your parents are when it comes to athletics. Theres NO WAY IN HELL a university would just give out a an ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP due to the kids father having money. The reason colleges give athletic scholarships is because they want that person to come to their program and enhance it which also makes the school look better and they can therefore get more money.

        Please think before you type

    18. I hope he preaches this to the “other” kids who earn scholarships but come from wealth…doubt it though…he’s the same lame that had a problem with Luda reppin’ Pepsi…but had no issues with the Osbourne’s…who’s kids curse @ their parents and the parent are on Mars somewhere…GOOD ISH JUSTIN…

    19. How come no one is telling other rich kids to give up their ATHLETIC scholarship. You think Diddy’s kid the only one with an ATHLETIC scholarship. David Robinson son just got a scholarship to Norte Dame, no ones complaining about him giving it back. Same thing with Joe Montana’s son. But here we have a black rapper and the media wants to turn this into a story. Not to mention they’re scholarships for all types of sports. Tennis, yachting, soccer etc at ivy league schools where I’m sure rich kids EARN an ATHLETIC scholarship. No ones singling them out so we need to cut the crap.

And what about all the complaining we do that rich kids get everything handed to them. Well here’s a rich kid who has earn it on the field and in the classroom and we want to take it away from him. And last but not least How about we think of the kid for a change. I think it would be nice for him to get out of daddy’s shadow for a change.

    20. It’s not needs or income based.. it’s PERFORMANCE based in ATHLETICS.. Congrats to young Combs on EARNING his scholarship.

    21. meee:

    22. FOX News Host Bill O’Reilly Says black people need to stop making money and advancing in society

    23. truth be told, he sucks at football, the only reason they gave him the scholarship is he is p. diddy or puffy or puff daddy or p diddy pop’s son. check the other offers he got and what not. WHO GIVES A SHIT

    24. for the first time Bill does have a point though.the rich get richer the poor get poorer.”free capitalism”

    25. no one bitched when Austin Rivers got a scholarship to Duke. What if Combs goes pro? should he take league minimum and give his bonuses and the pay from his contract (if he goes as a top pick that is) to a bench player or practice squad player? GTFOH

      1. I betchu its some 15 year old white dude that aint never touched no gun or no bitch in his life and dont wear no blue except for the two dollar polo shirts his moms buys him from Walmart but saw some random mothafucka type “fuck” as “fucc” on Facebook… Smh

    26. David Robinson son just got a scholarship to Norte Dame… Same thing with Joe Montana’s son. But here we have a black rapper and the media wants to turn this into a story”

Shut the fuck up you dumb ass. Nobody’s talking about race. It’s about students who can’t afford college have to either give up their dream, or go into debt for years just to be able to attend a top University. Diddy is worth hundreds of millions. Shell out for your fucking kid. That’s the only way it will be real, cause as it looks now, his kid just got handed something for nothing. What’s next? Buy his grades?

    27. “they want that person to come to their program and enhance it which also makes the school look better”

Which leads to many downfalls once they enter the NFL and can’t perform.

    28. “The SMART rich people make their children earn EVERYTHING”

If you really believe that you need serious help.

    29. Why should he give up his scholarship? He worked hard at his sport and is being rewarded for it. Maybe his father is making him learn the value of money and hard work and making him pay for college. Having gone through college on his own merit and not living under his fathers wealth. Might give him a sense of accomplishment that none of us will know being we did not grow up with a silver spoon.

      1. Maybe because its a fucking recession and other kids worked just as hard and probably have just as nice credentials but got over looked because they didnt have the connects diddy does. Haha anyone remember that old kanye song? Diddy u the dreamkiller.

    30. “Do you have any idea what his major is? Do you know what his minor is?”

I don’t give a fuck. Majors/minors are often times mirages when it comes to college athletes. Sure, alot get degrees, but they don’t use them, so what’s the point? So you’re major was computer science, but instead you throw a football for 3 hours on Sunday. Wow. That’s amazing brilliance on display.

    31. As much as I loathe Bill O’Reilly, a broken clock is still right twice a day. There’s no logical reason a kid, regardless of his talents, should be given one of a handful of limited scholarships when his family is that wealthy with zero need for his college way paid by others. O’Reilly is right, gracefully decline the scholarship money, and allow it to go to the sorts of kids who actually need it: those with high ambitions and academic (or even athletic) talent to back it up that have little to no way of affording the extremely high cost of going to a school like UCLA.

Why anyone would defend Diddy’s rich ass kid to take a free ride when his father is that rich is beyond me. Who cares if O’Reilly is for or against something, listen to common sense. You know that scholarship would’ve gone to someone actually deserving of it but instead was given to another kid that needs not worry about money the rest of his life.

    32. No one denies it would be a nice thing to give the scholarship to someone else. The question is whether Combs has an obligation to do it.

But the thing is, I’m sure Diddy gives millions of dollars to charity every year, so what moral difference does 30k make?

    33. Bill O’Reilly is an idiot. That can’t be disputed. Howerver, Diddy Jr. could make the team without the scholly and let UCLA use it to bring another talented prospect. Be a team player. That said, he’s earned it and if he decides to keep it, it’s nobodies business. The athletic scholarships are funded by the athletic department and can’t be used on a non-athlete student. If Diddy wanted to show some class, he’d allow his kid to keep the scholarship, then go and provide school funding for some kids who could really use it. That would be a way he could shut up some of these idiots.

    34. I don’t understand the problem , UCLA gave him a sports scholarship which is paid for by the earnings of the Athletic Department. Oh well its a Recession so he should give up his scholarship to appease a whole lot of people who wouldn’t give two fucks about his accomplishments if he wasn’t a celebrity’s son. Be outraged about something that matters there are plenty of real injustices going on in your backyard.

    35. So says the man that disagre with Obama for stopping all the cuts for the wealthy when poor and middle class families dont get shitting on. Thats like saying that all these wealthy people that get hand outs and tax cuts shouldnt take them. There are kids that attend Standford, Harvard, and numeerous other colleges that have accepted scholarships but where is the outrage. The only reason its outrage is because its a black man with money and he is a rapper. If you think race doesnt have a thing to do with this then you lost.

A lot of people hate rappers and what they stand for especially P.Diddy. Diddy is someone that flaunts his money and a lot of people dont like that especially if they are black.

      Drops mic and drops pants
      Then says kiss my ass!!

    36. justin combs worked hard for that scholarship he had a GPA of 3.75 even though his parents are wealthy as fuck he deserves it, he can do whatever the FUCK he wants!

    38. “have you ever taken a computer science class?”

Have you ever taken a creative writing class? Cause some of the tall tales you spin on here are quite entertaining. False and embarassing, but still worth the price of admission.

    39. See kids…

This is what happens when you go around flaunting your dollars.

To me its not an issue of race. Its not a matter of wealth either. Its a matter of arrogance and classless behavior.

Sean Combs is not the first person of wealth to have his offspring receive scholarship to attend a college or university. It’s been said in this thread already the names of the rich who have done so already. But why is such a big deal now? Because none of the other people are constantly reminding you that they have enough money to do whatever they want to do. That includes sending their children to whatever school that accepts them.

You see, everyone knows that HOF QB Joe Montana can send his kid to whatever school he wants, paid cash, out of pocket. Nobody pitches a fit when his kid gets a scholarship because Joe isn’t constantly reminding you of that fact.

It’s a little lesson in humility. Something most hip hop artists will never talk about but it is a truism in life that you must have it.

All said, the kid EARNED the scholarship so he should have it. He still has to continually earn it as he goes through college career.

    40. “Joe Montana can send his kid to whatever school he wants, paid cash, out of pocket. Nobody pitches a fit”

He’s been out of the spotlight for years. Plus, while I’m sure he has millions, he’s not in Diddy’s range. What you fail to realize here is that “rich people” shouldn’t be able to get favors for a favor. Hook my kid with a scholarship that hundreds of kids who don’t have the safety net Diddy’s kid fight for. It literally means everything to them. His son could slack of. Drop out. Or graduate, and it won’t make a difference, cause his path is already been set. So what if he got good grades? While that’s an accomplishment, it’s not like only a select few can do it. It will always come back around to money, and especially now with the state of our coutnry/economy, and I think it’s a very legitimate beef that some have with a man of Diddy’s wealth hooking up his kid with one phone call and a private donation.

      1. First: He might not be in Diddy’s range but he can still afford a 54g tuition for his kid.

Second: I don’t understand why he’d be looking for a hook up to get his kid a scholarship to attend the school when he could easily afford it.

Look, my point is you can’t blame Sean or Justin for this. It’s the school that offered the money. Why is no one coming down on the institution? Why, because as soon as you think of UCLA you think university…opportunity…education…etc. (I know they have their flaws as well), but when as soon as you think of Puffy Diddy you think flash, excessive wealth, etc. So everybody jumps on him and his son because of the lack of humility in Diddy’s character over the couple past decades.

But anyway, it’s the institution paying for the kid to go to school. They’re the ones saying come to our school. They’re the ones saying we want on our team so bad we’ll pay for you to attend our school.

There’s a lot of kids who want a scholarship I know for fact. But I can’t say that Justin isn’t deserving of an ATHLETIC scholarship because those are given based on the students ability and I haven’t seen him play to judge whether or not he good enough to get it. I’m not trying to jump to conclusions about it before I get some insight into the situation.

If he’s that good to have colleges fighting for his talent, this is what they do…offer scholarships. If he isn’t then I’ll cry foul. But for now, like most people, I can’t say because I haven’t seen him play.

    41. I was listening to ESPN radio when they were talking about this, and they interviewed USC’s Basketball coach ABOUT GIVING MASTER P’s son a scholly, he said and I quote, “Sure his father was a cluprit in the giving of the scholarship, the more attention you bring to the University, the better…..” I PLAYED college football at Nebraska under Bill Calahan dumb ass for a year and a half in 06-07, and let me tell you bloggers something. THERE IS SO MUCH political BS that happens in college sports it might as well be the pros. Don’t believe me, see Reggie Bush’s situation, or Cam Newtons, or YEARS of Miami’s players “getting” gifts. Pfff after a game against Kansas one time, I can remember alumns walking up to us offering ALL kinds of “gifts”. Society hides and paints the truth. Bottom line here is, Diddy shoulda fronted the bill, I got homies who are DEAD broke that have the speed and size of a Calvin Johnson and boys that have a jumper like Durant that will never get a shot because of wait for it, wait for it………….. MONEY.

      1. So your saying that if your dead broke like Cam Newton was…or Reggie Bush was…or Lebron James was…schools won’t offer you scholarships so you can get the opportunity to showcase your skills so you can become rich like they all are now.

        OK. I understand.

    42. If I must burn down your points, then let it be done…

One, nobody’s checking on Joe Montana these days. The fact you even brought him up in the same discussion as Diddy is silly.

Two, if there’s one thing you can say about rich people is they love to save a buck. It don’t matter how much they have. If they call in a favor and not have to front the money for something, they will. That’s why they stay rich.

Three, I’m not blaming the kid. He’s ridin high, and that’s fine. It just shows some of the cracks in his character where he’d be ok with accepting a scholarship that if he didn’t get wouldn’t alter his life in any shape or form. It would be nice to see the kid of a celebrity not take the easy way. You got a Maybach. That alone must kill those who are there taking out expensive student loans. I try and see all sides, but I just don’t like the college system and how it has been totally corrupted.

      1. I don’t know about any calls for favors in this instance so I’m not going to say that’s what been done here. I understand your point though. I’m not oblivious to the fact that rich “friends” ask each other for favors. Nor am I oblivious to the fact that when to college athletics there is a lot of shady dealings that go on behind the scenes.

My point, not to seem like I’m trying to further egg you on, was that people jumped to conclusions about the whether or not Justin Combs deserved and earned the scholarship based solely on his family’s wealth. And that’s just wrong.

I don’t know kid’s ability. I don’t know if he can play or not. A vast majority of people who’ve given their opinion about the situation don’t know either. But because he’s wealthy and is given a “free ride” through college everyone goes ape shit.

If the kid has the ability, I’m pretty sure UCLA isn’t the only school to court him. This is what college athletics do. They fight and offer free rides to students so they can attend there school…rich or poor. Any dolt of an athletic director that will give scholarships to kids because of the family name (especially if the name isn’t associated with sports) will probably soon be fired (or should be) because your celebrity doesn’t breed skill. And that’s what athletics is all about. The only people that will attend UCLA because Justin is attending is future wannabe music stars and groupies. Most of which will never be able to pay their student loan back because they went to school to follow someone around rather than get an education. If the school has any sense they’d try to avoid this because now they’re attracting deadbeat students from whom they’ll never recover a cent.

Bad business if you ask me. I know it happens sometimes but I’m pretty sure some colleges know this just as I do so I’ll give the benefit of the doubt until further proof proves otherwise.

    43. College used to be a place where most people “found themselves”, realizing that unlike HS, life wasn’t as easy as it seemed. The price for enhancing yourself came with a price. Today, young adults drive to school in their Beamers, Benzs and Bentleys. They use sports as their “meal ticket”, often times getting illegal perks along the way. For that, I blame the universities. Now if Justin would have been like “yo pops… I’ve always wanted to go to UCLA, but I know I can’t afford it on my own. Can you help a lil G out”? Then it would come off more noble. Instead, it’s the ole football scenario. If he gets a 4.0, great! But really this is about football, and the bottom line is making it to the pros. The rest is window dressing, which is fine, just pay your own way because you can.

      1. But really this is about football, and the bottom line is making it to the pros. The rest is window dressing, which is fine, just pay your own way because you can.

DON’T GET IN YO FEELINGS & READ THE TEXT

    44. “Justin Combs deserved and earned the scholarship based solely on his family’s wealth. And that’s just wrong”

That’s true. He did. Aside from his father being Diddy, he seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

    45. Then again… Rob Kardasian graduated from USC, and look at him today. Trying to build a sock empire lol

    46. if u mad at justin are u mad at bill clinton’s kids? are u mad that george bush kids got them? if u hate justin hate every rich person who got one

    47. So to be fair I googled this and read an article where Justin Combs is talking about the scholarship. He sounded so pre-rehearsed. Finishes by saying he’s going to show everyone that he deserves the scholarship. Is that before or after the hot tub is installed in his dorm?

    48. One, nobody’s checking on Joe Montana these days. The fact you even brought him up in the same discussion as Diddy is silly.
      ++++++++++++
      #FAIL

NICK MONTANA, JOE’S SON HAS GONE TO NOTRE DAME TO THE UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON ON ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP. LAST TIME I HEARD HE LEFT WASHINGTON BECAUSE HE WASN’T GETTIN ANY PLAYIN TIME AND ALABAMA WAS “WILLING” TO OFFER A SCHOLARSHIP

NOW WTF IS THE DIFFERENCE HERE

      JOE CAN AFFORD TO PAY

BILL STRUCK THAT DORMANT RACIST GENE BECAUSE SOMEWHERE THERE’S A MULTI MILLIONAIRE WHO’S NERDY ASS KID JUST GOT A SCHOLARSHIP TO A PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITY

& U FCUKBOIS WHO KNO O’ SO MUCH AIN’T SAYIN SH!T ABOUT THAT

      GOAWAY

    49. Apparently, Joe Montana is worth $80 million dollars. Diddy is worth $550 million. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to realize that if you’re the guy with $550 million, naturally people are going to hold you under a different microscope. Especially when it’s Diddy. Joe probably gets talked about alot in San Francisco, and rightfully so, but once again, I don’t feel that a rich kid should get a free pass just because he got good grades. There are people with higher GPA’s who are getting dinged simply because 1.) Their daddy isn’t Diddy, and 2.) they don’t play football. They actually want to do something with their education. Take away football, and would Justin even want to go to UCLA? He mentioned education once in the interview I read.

      1. Its an athletic scholarship. They want him to play football for the school because they apparently think he’s valuable to their team.

It’s not about scholastics and academics. Strictly sports.
