Those who downloaded the Kickdrums’ Follow The Leaders mixtape yesterday (April 3) may have been a bit disappointed to find that a certain track which was intended to be on the project was somehow left out. That particular track was titled “Ridin’” and featured both A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey and was even promoted as being the lead single for Follow The Leaders.
MTV’s The Hive recently caught up with the Kickdrums’ Alex Fitts to find out why the song was mysteriously absent upon the release of Follow The Leaders.
“Well, we had like a general consensus to go ahead and leak it. I don’t think even the people involved had any idea it would have such a large impact in such a short amount of time,” Fitts explained. “But A$AP really wanted to use it for his album and as much as we love the song and are super excited to put it out and are disappointed that it’s not out, we’ve got to respect that. If he wants to put it on the album, that’s that.”
“The last I talked to him he was like, ‘You guys can use it for your mixtape and I’ll use it too for my album. You cool with that?’ We thought it was perfect,” the producer added. “Then when all the press came in [yesterday] that’s when the label stepped in.”
Fitts also spoke on the chemistry between A$AP Rocky and Lana Del Rey on “Ridin’” explaining that despite the “genre-bending” aspect of the song it still managed to work.
“That’s why we were so excited about it, because you have two different artists…I mean, she’s a fan of Hip Hop, and he’s a fan of hers, and the beat managed to just kinda bring them together,” said Fitts. “That’s actually the idea of this whole tape, the genre-bending that we as the Kickdrums naturally do, ’cause we grew up with a bunch of different influences.

dick move by asap i guess..
I guess someone didn’t manage to get through the one sentence summary of the article without hitting the comment section :'(
read it again. The label was the reason the song didnt come out not Rockys.
ASAP is smart…i bet thats gonna be the first single that comes out for his album and its gonna be a hit
I wasnt Rocky fault its the label. They aint gunna make any money off the song which is on a free mixtape. That why they want it on Rocky album so they can make money off of it.
