What do Alicia Keys, Ashanti, Memphis Bleek, Mario Winans and Dirt McGirt have in common? They all get some time to shine in the July Issue of The Source magazine.

Ashanti tells readers in the July issue of The Source magazine why she believes her music continues to strengthen the bond between hip hop and R&B. Preparing to release her sophomore album “Chapter II”, Ashanti and Murder Inc. are out to prove the success and critical acclaim for the first album was well deserved. In “What Lies Beneath” (pg. 118), Ashanti says, “I don’t consider myself an average R&B singer…It’s real talk, it’s hip-hop beats and I’m writing real lyrics that guys can relate to, females can relate to, young, old, Black, white, whatever it is.”

The Source also spends time with several other R&B players (including Alicia Keys, Mario Winans and Allen Anthony) preparing to drop back on the scene in “R&B Soul Fixins”(pg. 111). The Source also unveils a preview into what will be playing in your cd player this summer with the “2003 Summer Music Preview” (pg.90). Method Man, Joe Budden, Da Brat Memphis Bleek and Twista are just a few of the summer’s 15 most wanted. The Source also spends time with ODB in “Jailhouse Roc”(pg.41), Boo & Gotti explain the “Odd Couple”(pg.66) while B.G & Turk talk about why they are “The Outsiders”(pg. 106).
