Although Lisa ‘Left Eye” Lopes known to some as N.I.N.A, is physically gone the people of Honduras want to make sure she is not forgotten. On May 27, 2003 the Honduran President Ricardo Maduro, AOL Time Warner and Left Eye’s family will unveil a one of a kind monument in the “La Ceiba” that will pay tribute to her memory.

The monument will be situated on the 84 acres of land Lisa purchased in the town before she died. The mayor of the town Gonzalo Rivera, commissioned a local sculptor to create the memorial. Lisa often visited the island when she felt the need to gain inner peace. During her time on the island she volunteered her time at a children’s developmental center and a herbal healing center.

At the time of her death Lisa was planning to develop her own unique Health Spa with the local Garifuna people. Lisa Lopes died on April 25,2002 in an automobile accident in La Ceiba. Her family is planning to be present during the ceremony.
