As the summer heats up so does Pharrell Williams, the fifth Annual Swimsuit fashion show on the beaches of Brazil and the Six Power Sisters that are featured in the Source Magazine. In the June issue of the Source Pharrell Williams talks about why he feels its necessary for him and his partner in the super-producing group the Neptunes try to make music for everyone, not just hip-hop.

“I gotta show people that we can do more than just hip-hop…When everyone goes left, I wanna go right…If everybody’s going the same direction, there’s inevitably going to be a traffic jam and I prefer to keep makin’ good music for years and years to come”. For all those hip-hop heads who never really developed the skill to rhyme or make beats the Source explores 99 other ways to get paid in hip hop. Some on these jobs include Human Beatbox, Manservant (you could roll with the likes of P.Diddy), Video Girl, Spiritual Advisor and many more.

Showing wisdom and beauty the Source magazine unveils their choices of “Power Sisters”(pg. 78) who strive to succeed in a male dominated industry. Liza Rios, head of Foundation Records and Big Pun’s widow, Tracey Waples, VP at Bad Boy Records and Leota Blacknor, founder of Biz-Music seminar are just a few of the women featured in this segment. Also in this issue Swizz Beatz discusses his new deal with J Records (pg. 88), the 5th Annual Swimsuit Preview in Rio de Janeiro and Lil Kim, Jermaine Dupri and Funkmaster Flex show case their personal hot wheels (pg. 112).
