Dr. Dre and Eminem will be going back to court if it’s up to Minder Music Ltd. A London music publisher has filed an amended copyright infringement lawsuit to have a jury trial against Andre Young also known as Dr. Dre and Marshall Mathers also known as Eminem, Interscope Records, Universal Music * Video Distribution( UMVD) among many others.

According to Billboard Bulletin the lawsuit was filed in a Los Angeles District Court by Minder Music Ltd. alleging that Dr. Dre used segments of the 1980’s song “Backstrokin’ “ for his song “Let’s Get High” on the album “Dr. Dre 2001”. Due to the song being co written by Eminem and others, that is the reason they are involved in the lawsuit. The current amendment to the lawsuit is replacing the lawsuit filed on July 31, 2000. The plaintiff is seeking at least $3.5 million dollars in damages.

The album sold 6.6 million units in the US. According to Soundscan. Dr. Dre’s lawyer. Howard Kings says the segments Dr. Dre is alleging to have used are basic and not subject to copyright protection. “They’re seeking a ridiculous amount of money,” Howard King said in a statement to the media.
