Having just went multiplatinum; 50 Cent has the right idea for what the streets want to hear. 50 has inked a deal with Interscope Records to develop his own label aptly called G-Unit Records.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, 50 Cent will develop and sign new artist under his label and Interscope will market and distribute the releases. Chairman of Interscope Records, Jimmy Lovine said, “When you have an artist like 50 Cent, you want to be in business with him on every level — movies, video games, wherever he wants to go.” The first album set to be released will be from the G-Unit crew (50 Cent, Tony Yayo and Lloyd Banks) that will be in stores later this year.
Along with 50 Cent’s DVD being released on April 15th, a bonus maxi-CD will also be included with unreleased songs. “First I drop my album, and people pay attention,” 50 Cent said. “Now that I got their attention, I’m gonna drop the next sh*t on them — the G-Unit sh*t, both the label and the group. … I’m not leveling the competition, I’m destroying it.”
