Not having released an album for almost three years, the hip-hop group Black Eyed Peas is preparing to unleash their new album. The group began work on their new album “Elephunk” during the summer of 2001, but decided to make a change after the tragedy of September 11th.
“We had the vocal direction of our songs down,” said Wil.I.Am in an interview with Rolling Stone. “But after September 11th, we switched the direction a bit, edged it up a whole lot. Refined it.” The Black Eye Peas then changed their direction after hosting a weekly jam session in Bogeda Bay, California. After hearing one musician perform with a tuba—an idea formed. “That’s where we got the album title from,” Will said. “He was sounding like an elephant.”
Guest appearances on the album are Blink-182’s Travis Barker and Papa Roach’s Jacoby Shaddix who will shine on a true to life track titled “Anxiety”. “I’ve been having anxiety issues since 1993,” Will continued. “I have panic attacks on stage sometimes. I start gagging. You hold a lot of things inside and they just churn in you and churn in you and churn in you until they blow up”.
The group has expanded with a new extended fourth member, Tracey Ferguson. Also look for the release of their own clothing line and a new video show on MTV. Look out for the new album in stores this May.
