Pill recently spoke on the origins of his rap moniker, which came from his high school football days. The Maybach Music Group spitter explained that his name used to be “Pill Pill,” but that he nixed the repetition when he started taking his rapping career more seriously.
“Pill came from football actually. That’s the nickname for the pill. In one game, a JV game, I showed up, caught a couple touchdowns, I ran one back… I caught like 10 passes. I showed my ass that game. So they started calling me Pill Pill. And when I started taking music more seriously, I called myself Pill. I cut it short, and I said I’m the cure for rap cancer.”
