Although the NBA-Allstar weekend seems to be over, the drama is actually just beginning. Cam’ron is determined to seek justice from the National Basketball Association because he’s says they stopped him from participating the half time tribute concert to Michael Jordan alongside Mariah Carey.
Cam’ron says the NBA told him he was not allowed to perform with Carey (to do her version of “Oh Boy”) due to a civil suit the NBA has against his former label (Unentertainment-for the trademark logo on his last album with the company), and they did not want to have any rap performances during the show. The NBA says they were not letting him perform due to the knowledge of the gun charge pending against him, both the NBA, Def Jam and Monarc Records thought it was best he not perform. Cam’ron doesn’t see it that way.
Cam’ron told MTV, “There is nothing that will be bigger than a Michael Jordan tribute. I feel robbed. Sitting up in a skybox, watching the All-Star Game, seeing the half-time show, I felt like I was supposed to be out there. I’m on a 40-city tour to promote the Diplomats album, so that means 40 cities are going to hear my opinion on this. This protest is just the beginning. I want compensation. I’m going to take this all the way to the championships.”
