Do you believe the Ludacris Pepsi commercial was “culturally disrespected” when it was taken off the air? Well you aren’t the only one! Ludacris and the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network were setting out to protest against all Pepsi products with a “Campaign for Respect”.
Ludacris’s Pepsi commercial was pulled after Bill O’Reilly spoke about how Pepsi should not allow Ludacris to promote the company because of his obscene lyrics in his music. But Pepsi now has a commercial featuring the Osbourne family (who we all know use curse words throughout their television show!) The new commercial was shown during the time when television audiences are rated highly (the Superbowl). The boycott would have remained in effect until Pepsi publicly apologizes to Ludacris and makes a $5 million dollar contribution to The Ludacris Foundation and they reinstate Ludacris’s Pepsi commercial. Pepsi has now agreed to settle the matter to avoid the boycott by agreeing to a multi-year, multi-million dollar partnership supporting the Ludacris Foundation as well as Rush Arts.
The Ludacris Foundation is a non-profit company that helps youth achieve their dreams through constant encouragement by following the “Principles of Success”. Ludacris is currently wrapping up production on his first major motion picture film (with a leading role).
