So many hip-hop record companies have been shifting from label to label that it’s beginning to look like scrabble. After Jermanin Dupri signed his multi-million dollar deal with Arista Records a couple of weeks ago, other prominent label owners have been moving for a better deal.
Reports have been made that Sean ‘P. Diddy” Combs may be moving his Bad Boy roster over to Universal Records after being a free agent for almost a year. P. Diddy previously said that he wouldn’t sell his label for less than $100 million. Ruff Ryders has also landed a label deal with Virgin Records to house new artists and compilation albums.
Previous artists such as Eve, Jadakiss and the LOX will remain with its previous label Interscope Records but remain under the Ruff Ryders family. Swizz Beatz also has his own label titled Full Surface Records distributed through J Records. Several of the artists on the label are Keith Sweat, Rap City Host Big Tigger, Bounty Killer, Yung Won and Mashonda.
