What’s missing from the Grammy’s nominations? How about a nomination for the Neptune’s as producers of the year, non-classical. Apparently the Neptune’s name was not submitted to the nominations board for consideration.
Angelia Bibbs-Sanders, the regional VP of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS) released a statement saying, We’re disappointed by the Neptune’s’ omission. “However, being members of our New York chapter, they should certainly be aware of this process. Members have the right to enter product themselves. It’s hard to put the onus on one label here, as we’re talking about submitting a specific body of work. It’s about relying on someone who has knowledge of what the Neptune’s have done. That’s one reason why managers and attorneys join [NARAS], to make sure their clients are covered.”
“It’s one thing to join and another to vote. Anyone who is a member could have entered the Neptune’s,” says Bibb-Sanders, who went on to speak about Nelly and Eminem’s multi-nominations,” directly reflect on the outreach and work we’ve done on a national level. I see a tremendous amount of growth in the urban membership.” Since there is no chance they can add the Neptune’s to the categories now, all I can say is “Chad and Hugo keep a look out for next year, because you deserve it”!
