It’s official. Jermaine Dupri has signed an exclusive worldwide contract with Arista Record Company. Under the contract stipulations, Jermaine’s label, So So Def will be under the sole contract of Arista Records and Jermaine will also take over a position as a senior vice president at the label. Jermaine will continue using his artist development skills to assist new artists for all three of the BMG Record labels (Arista, Jive and RCA).
“Jermaine has been one of the outstanding creative forces in the Atlanta music scene,” L.A. Reid, Arista president/CEO said in a statement to the media. “We have known each other for more than a decade, and it has been a source of personal satisfaction for me to watch him work with and guide many of Atlanta’s hip-hop and R&B artists to superstar status. Jermaine has produced some of the greatest names in contemporary music, and I welcome the opportunity to bring him into the Arista family.” With the move from his old label Columbia, Jermaine will be leaving some of hits hottest acts behind (Lil Bow Wow, Jagged Edge, Da Brat and many others).
