Hip Hop duo Moke & Tone is made up of Bronx emcee and Hardtimes recording artist Mokeout and Massachusetts rapper and Problemaddicts member Tone. The group is set to release their first album together. The disc, entitled Shot Heard ‘Round the World, is scheduled to drop on April 12th on Mystika Music and will be available through iTunes. It was primarily produced by the production crew Team Genius but it also features some high profile guests behind the boards. !llmind, who has worked with Redman and Skyzoo, and J Clyde, who boasts credits for tracks by Young Buck and Heltah Skeltah, both contributed tracks to Moke & Tone’s debut. Shot Heard ‘Round the World also features guest spots from Slaughterhouse’s Crooked I, Brooklyn Academy’s Mr. Metaphor, and Catalyst and Vorheez of The Problemaddicts.
This week sees the kickoff of Hip Hop Education Week. The event, being held at Essex County College in Newark, seeks to raise awareness of Hip Hop’s ability to be a medium of social change, with specific regard to the culture’s potential impact in our nation’s struggling urban schools. The event consists of a series of panels and discussions, with leading scholars and artists, which are intended to educate and inspire.
