In his two decades in the music business, Loud Records and SRC Records CEO Steve Rifkind has introduced the rap game to the likes of the Wu-Tang Clan, Mobb Deep and Big Pun, to name a few. Now, Rifkind has set his sights on a new group to sign: upcoming California collective Odd Future Wolf Gang Kill Them All.
In a recent interview with Al Lindstrom, Rifkind said that following their notorious “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” he has been gunning to sign OFWGKTA. He also said that the collective reminds him of the first group he signed to Loud the Wu-Tang Clan in the unadulterated rawness of their sound.
“Before this interview came [to] place, as I was walking into the office, somebody called me today and said you’ve got to sign [OFWGKTA],” he said. “And then you guys bring them up to me just now…I saw some videos for the first time this morning and I saw when they did the JImmy Fallon show, I’m going after them hard. I think they’re brilliant. I don’t anything a comparison about Wu-Tang. I can see maybe because the music is just so raw, but what I saw I just fell in love with.”
