In a tribute to his friend and partner in the rap game, DMC also known as Darryl McDaniels of the rap group Run-DMC will be releasing a tribute song to Jam Master Jay.
The song titled “I’m Missing My Friend” will be a track on DMC’s solo album “Checks, Thugs and Rock ‘n’ Roll”, which will be hitting stores next year. DMC told VH-1,“I want to make sure his kids can go to college when they get 18,’Cause their father was a great musician. I ain’t talking about him being my DJ,” DMC continued. “I’m talking about stuff like how he taught me to swim, how he used to sit and do crossword puzzles while we was hanging, a lot of stuff people didn’t know about him. That’s the legacy I want to leave for him.”
Rev. Run will help in the promotion of DMC’s album, although he is thinking about the possibility of recording his own solo album. All the proceeds from this song will go to Jam Master Jay’s family. Different people in the entertainment industry, who would like to participate in supporting Jam Master Jay’s legacy, are discussing a tribute album.
