Young Chicago producer/DJ Million $ Mano is the envy of many young beatmakers right now after getting the opportuinity to work on a track on Kanye West’s blockbuster My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. The Windy City native was asked by West personally to add his talents to the track “Lost In the World.” As M$M tells rubyhornet.com, “Kanye said, ‘I want you to check out this song I just did called “Lost In The World”. I want to get your take on the drums.’ I was like ‘Yeah, man, of course.’”
Mano then sent his take on the track back to Kanye and was surprised to hear that the superstar he admired was as excited about the results as he was: “I was just super enthused about it. I was like, ‘Yo, this shit is crack, this shit is crazy.’ Then I finally sent it to Kanye and he was just like, ‘Yo, this shit is crazy…’ I’m geeked as hell cause I [was] thinking…he gonna tell me he ain’t feeling it. He told me he liked the first take I gave him. And then I’m like, ‘Is this gonna be a G.O.O.D. Friday record or is this going to be on the album?’ And he said, ‘Nah, this is going on the album.’ And I was like, ‘Oh, shit!’
The Chi-Town musician also shared a funny story about the first time he heard the leaked album and his slight disappointment when he actually got to read the liner notes of the record he had assisted with: “When I heard the leak I was just blown away. Yo, it was set in stone. I’m on this historic album…He was just a fan of my work just as much as I was a fan of his. I was geeked as hell when the album came out… and I looked in the credits and I was like, ‘No! My name’s not in here!’ Treated. I’m still going to be credited.”
