N.O.R.E. will perform the walkout music for mixed martial artist Ben Askren, a Welterweight Tournament Champion, at Aksren’s fight on October 21st. The fight is a part of the Bellator Fighting Championship and the Queen’s emcee’s performance marks the first time that organization has seen one of its fighters enter the ring accompanied by live music. The fight will take place at the Liacouras Center on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.
Converse announced plans to open a recording studio, to be christened Rubber Tracks, in Brooklyn for the purpose of allowing emerging artists to opportunity to work with state-of-the-art equipment and to provide always expensive studio time at no cost. Converse will accept applications from interested musicians and make selections from those submissions. 80 Blocks From Tiffany’s an obscure documentary profiling 1970’s street gangs in the South Bronx will finally see an official DVD release on November 23rd. The 1979 film chronicles the violent lives of the Savage Skulls and the Savage Nomads as they battled the police in a New York that looks nothing like the city we know today. Gary Weiss directed the unflinching look at urban decay and street warfare which is being released in an expansive, deluxe edition by Traffic productions.
