According to AP Chuck D has a new opinion about Elvis, this being the 25th anniversary of the rock superstars death. Chuck D in his early Public Enemy days in the song “Fight the Power” said, “Elvis was a hero to most/But he never meant shit to me, you see/Straight up racist that sucker was, simple and plain.”

Now it seems Mr. Chuck has changed his tune in other ways. Chuck D is now saying things like, “As a musicologist — and I consider myself one — there was always a great deal of respect for Elvis, especially during his Sun sessions. As a black people, we all knew that,” and “Eminem is the new Elvis because, number one, he had the respect for black music that Elvis had,” Chuck D said. “I think he’s courteous and sympathetic to black music, and, unfortunately, he’s more sympathetic to black music than many black artists themselves.”

It seems Chuck wants no part at going after one of the biggest stars in music who has been known to destroy anybody or anything that questions him.
