Hip Hop legend Ice Cube has been very vocal in expressing his frustration over the George Floyd police killing and said frustration led him to shutter a scheduled Good Morning America appearance on Thursday (May 28).
“I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on Good Morning America today, but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, good morning,” Cube wrote on Twitter.
The Amerikkka’s Most Wanted scribe was likely slated to discuss his role in the upcoming Focus Features film, The High Note, where he stars as a veteran artist manager alongside Tracee Ellis Ross and Dakota Johnson. The film will be released on Friday (May 29th), to all available digital service providers in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Known for his politically charged lyrics, including his most recent album, 2018’s Everythang’s Corrupt, Cube has been heavily using social media to get his opinions across. On Wednesday (May 27), he posted an Instagram photo that depicted Floyd’s final moments under the knee of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin before he was pronounced dead on Memorial Day.

You die by asphyxiation when you are in handcuffs and someone sits on top of you like that. It actually can happen very easily, and police are well aware of this issue. The reason I know about it is because my gf was a paramedic for 5 years and saw this happen a couple times by accident. So this is not okay and could have been prevented quite easily with a little common sense and decency.

How long after did he die? If he asphyxiated he would have died on scene and been pronounced dead on scene. He wouldn’t be talking and saying I can’t breathe if he couldn’t actually breathe. So it’s not asphyxiation it’s Excited delirium. You’re right it’s not okay and nobody should lose their life that way. I wanted to know if they released the real medical determination of the cause of death and not the media’s claims.
He did die on scene. By the time fire and EMS arrived he was already deceased. And you can absolutely verbalize that you cannot breathe while being asphyxiated. This isn’t the movies. Excited delirium would certainly be a contributing factor, but asphyxiation would be the primary cause of death.
You’re absolutely right Atlas!! George Floyd died on the scene. Taking him to hospital was a mere formality to have medical personel pronounce him dead. The probably didn’t admit him into the ward. The doctor probably came out, checked his non existent vitals, filled out forms and he had him transferred straight to the morgue.
According to the Coroner: The Hennepin County Medical Examiner (ME) conducted the autopsy saying that asphyxia was not the cause of death. Floyd had underlying health issues including hypertensive heart disease and coronary artery disease.
Both diseases combined with being restrained by the police, plus any potential intoxicants may have contributed to his death.The full ME’s report is still pending…. We need to stop letting the media machine divide us with inaccurate facts and details.
5 black kids ran into a home they were charged with burglarizing two weeks prior, and murdered a white teen a few months ago. No one had anything to say about it.
