Tech N9ne’s 15th studio album, Special Effects, debuted at the #4 spot on the Billboard 200, making it the highest charting Hip Hop album of the week with more than 58,00 units sold.
The Furious 7 soundtrack remained in the top 10 this week, but fell from #3 to #7. Drake’s If Youre Reading This Its Too Late fell eight spots from #5 to #13.
Nicki Minaj’s Pinkprint album has been on the Billboard 200 for 21 weeks, making it one of the longest charting Hip Hop albums on the list. Nik dropped out of the #18 spot to #23 this week.
Empire’s Season One Soundtrack rounds out the top 25 with 12,135 albums sold this week.Further down the list, J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive continues to remain one of the top 50 albums in the country. Cole’s total activity (streaming, album sales) was higher than Kendrick Lamar, Flo Rida, and Wale, three artist’s who’ albums came out months after Cole’s.
Ciara’s sixth studio album, Jackie, enters the charts this week at #17. The album sold 19,866 albums copies, which is significantly less than her previous albums. Her last offering, Ciara, debuted at #2 on the charts and sold over 130,000 copies during the first week. Jackie is the second lowest charting album Ciara has recorded, following Basic Instinct, her fourth studio album.
Tech N9ne Debuts At #4
Tech N9ne’s Special Effects got off to a strong start this week with 58,388 albums sold. It’s the fourth time since 2011, Tech’s album debuted in the top 5 on the Billboard 200. Technically, Special Effects is the #1 Hip Hop album in the country. Tech N9ne has debuted at the #4 spot on the charts four times in his career. He has never charted higher than #4 on the Billboard 200.
“Fast & Furious 7” Exits Top 5
Largely due to the success of Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” single, The Fast & Furious 7 soundtrack is still charting in the top 10. This week, it fell four spots from #3 to #7. The soundtrack has been remained successful in its streaming figures each week, boating over 10 million streams for the week ending 5/10.
Drake Falls From #5 To #13
Drake’s extended CD version of his latest album, If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late , has been impactful on the charts. He sold another 15, 109 albums this week, but moved out of the top 10. Though it’s only 3,000 short of last week’s sales, incoming albums and a number of factors contributed to the album’s fall from the top 5. Still, in the third week of the CD being available on shelves, IYRTITL raked in the highest streaming count of any artist on the chart.

If You’re Reading This It’s Too Drake
Only reason why tech nine sold that much is because he crawled to other artists like eminem since his skills are shit. On a side note, glad to see Omarion’s Post to be doing well. Omarion could become the biggest star from mmg aside from rozay.
Uhh, no. Tech N9ne sold that much because of his fanbase, not crawling to anyone. And his skills are not shit. Post To Be is not doing well. Omarion is not gonna be a star and Ross is not a star either. They’re both washed up.
What fanbase? Most of the sales come from pop star stans like those for eminem and wayne. Post to be is at no.13 on the hot 100. Omarion’s rising and so is ross.
The fanbase that buys his albums (also, Eminem is not a pop star). Post To Be only succeeded because of Chris Brown and DJ Mustard, yet it’s still a terrible song. Omarion is not rising and neither is Ross, who’s falling instead (look at the dismal sales of his last two albums).
That’s still a minority at best. Album still flopped. With all the stars it should have done at least 200k. DJ mustard is dope but omarion was the selling point. Chris couldn’t get a hit on his own since the rihanna incident. Others like kid ink, usher, and wayne had to lift him up. The only reason why ross’s sales were low is because his albums were dumped with very little promotion.
Tech 9 has been on Forbes List of Hip Hop artist the past couple years.. because he has real fans. He’s not a radio pop star but is doing a lot better than most radio rappers.
Also, eminem lost credibility as a hiphop artist since he did the love the way you lie shit.
He paid to be on the forbes list. He has very few real fans.
Uhh, no. It’s no minority. The album did not flopped as it sold more than previous Tech N9ne albums. The only star on that album was Eminem and big names alone doesn’t translate to big sales (i.e. French Montana, DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, etc.). Chris had a bunch of hits on his own since the Rihanna incident. Nobody lifted him, he lifted Kid Ink, Usher, and Wayne. You’re wrong about the last shit as Ross’ album had a lot of promotion. Either way, Ross flopped.
Also, Eminem didn’t lose any hip-hop credibility at all. And Tech N9ne didn’t pay anything to be on the Forbes list. He doesn’t just have a “few real fans,” he has a lot of fans.
Not really this is actually the average that tech usual sell in the first week.
Kid Ink? LOL he can’t even get a hit on his own.
dafuq??
Tech has one of the largest, strongest fan bases of any music artist, PERIOD.
Check his social medias. People getting tatted with his lyrics/logo. People crying when they meet him.
I don’t know if you’re trolling or just an idiot…but the FACTS are against ya buddy
nice try though!
Dan you are an absolute know-it-all douche bag. All of your comments are lame and you don’t know shit lol
Tech 9 still flopped regardless. And Chris brown’s only hits were with wayne, omarion, kid ink, and nicki minaj. He did a solo song with alliyah’s vocals and that shit flopped hard.
Tech N9ne succeeded, not flopped. And Chris Brown has solo hits without those people.
You motherfucker pissed off cuz Tech Did a song with Em….Omarion is nothing but a bullshit asshole album….and fucker you act like the godfather of hip hop…You are not even worth the dirt of that white boy’s feet….so just fuck off….
Body language from kid ink went gold.
No, it didn’t. Besides, that song didn’t even make the Top 40 and had Usher on it.
French Montana and Ross got low promotion. DJ khaled flopped because ditching away from cash money took a huge financial and marketing toll.
No, French and Ross got tons of promotion. DJ Khaled has been flopping since his first album. Leaving Cash Money didn’t affect anyone’s finances or marketing.
1. WHat solo hits did chris brown have after 2009?
2. French and Ross got low promotion and dj khaled during his time on cash money did well. Fast bastard ditched them because he loves wayne too much.
3. Body Language still went gold and usher fell off.
1. Look it up on Wikipedia under Chris Broiwn discography. 2. French and Ross got a lot of promotion and DJ Khaled was flopping on Cash Money. 3. Body Language did not go gold and Usher didn’t fall off, Kid Ink did.
1. I did you piece of shit. Can’t find any. 2. DJ Khaled had his best sales under cash money. 3. Look on RIAA. Body Language went gold and kid ink is rising while usher’s falling off.
1. No, you didn’t. You didn’t even bother to look. 2. DJ Khaled’s sales under Cash Money were shit. 3. I looked. Body Language did not go gold and Kid Ink fell off, not Usher.
1. Yes I did. Can’t find any. 2. DJ Khaled’s were the best.
YOu wanna fight me bitch?
1. No, you didn’t. You didn’t look because there are some. 2. DJ Khaled’s were the worst.
you niggaz can’t replace me, i am coming back to reclaim my crown on the comments sections of diz site. swag
this is hilarious
for the record, @Dan you are wrong about evrything you said. Everything. smh
Great sales from Tech. He’s getting that independent money. Album is fire as well.
