The Game Regrets ‘Inebriated’ Dr. Dre Comments: ‘I Should Have Gave Him More Grace’

The Game regrets a not-so-nice comment he made about Dr. Dre during a 2022 interview, and while he stands on what he said, he does wish he would have handled things differently.

The initial comment arrived during an appearance on Drink Champs while discussing Kanye West, who at the time had just teamed up with The Game for his single “Eazy” – which netted the latter his highest-charting Billboard Hot 100 song in nearly 15 years. “It’s crazy that Ye did more for me in the last two weeks than [Dr.] Dre did for me my whole career,” he told N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN.

In a new interview with Amazon Music published on Wednesday (June 28), The Game admitted he was a bit drunk when he said that last February and that he should have been more grateful that Dre did anything for him at all.

“So basically I was hollering at N.O.R.E. and them a little inebriated,” he began. “And I said some things that I meant. I’m not gon’ take it back – I ain’t no sucker. But having Dre do anything for your project, anything in your career, touch any part of anything you’re doing in life is such a blessing that I shall not ever shit on that again.”

He continued: “And I haven’t talked to Dre since. And it don’t really matter if we talk again in life. Like, I’m a standup Compton, L.A. n-gga and it is what it is. I said what I said, I’m not going back on it. It’s just that I should have actually gave him more grace for what he did do and that was actually mentoring me and doing things that nobody could have done for me in my career.

“When I was talking on there, I was speaking in terms of what Ye was doing right at that moment which was life-changing for me in that moment last year. And then I based it on Dre’s lack thereof because I took the business part personal and I should have left it business.”

The Game concluded: “But Dre is Dre, bro. We all know what Dr. Dre do.”

On the 18th anniversary of his major label debut The Documentary this past January, The Game saluted 50 Cent and Dr. Dre for everything they did to help him out at the time. Both 50 and Dre served as executive producers on the album, and The Game was also signed to G-Unit and Aftermath, respectively.

“18 years ago today…. A hip hop classic was born,” The Game captioned his post. “All I wanted to do was tell my story & make sure my son would never live the life I did. @snoopdogg passed me the torch, @bustarhymes kept me focused… @drdre laid the foundation & @50cent helped put the puzzle together.”

He continued: “I took @jonathanmannion to the depths of Compton, California & showed him the heart of what I survived. He captured the essence of my city, my hood & brought to the world my vision. Always remember, it is no longer a dream once it becomes reality.”

It may not always be all love between The Game and his former labelmates, but it seems things are as cordial as they can be for the time being.

Elsewhere in the same interview, the Compton rapper also addressed the rumors that he wrote the hook for “What Up Gangsta” from 50 Cent’s landmark debut, Get Rich or Die Tryin’.

    1. Nga that shit a wrap don’t noone fux witchu better tighten yo sht up we waiting on the bankruptcy shit I already see it

    2. The Game discography is absolutely ridiculous. Too many emotional beta males get caught up in the gossip and non-sense and won’t talk about his music. There’s not too many artist in hip-hop history who can say every album they’ve made has been a borderline 4-5 mics. The internet nerds will talk all this trash about him, but wouldn’t dare say 1 negative word to his face, it’s really comical. As a LA native I frequent a lot of spots he goes too. Zero security. Zero backup. While every other artist gotta make calls before they touchdown in LA this man literally just walks around like an avg civilian showing love to everybody. Outside of PAC, Game is #2 when it comes to West coast artist. The versatility he showed on Drillmatic cemented him as one of the GOATS. Only WestCoast artist that can go Bar to Bar with Jada

      1. “Too many emotional beta males get caught up in the gossip and the nonsense “… U mean like the game ?

      2. Like Rakim? No way lol. Game is more like 50 cent lyric wise, and a pretend, wannabe Nas. Rakim never fronted… game always fronts.

      3. Game will never make a record as dope as Death Certificate but he is a better rapper than Cube.

      4. His newer stuff like laugh now cry later and raw footage is classic too and roll call verse is top 5 verse sheesh

      5. Wow! I can tell you’re an Andrew Tate fanboy. If this Alpha/Beta nonsense did exist, then wouldn’t Betas win? Look at Bill Gates lol. But it doesn’t. Your whole argument was discredited once you mentioned it. Good night. I hope you find peace fighting with your girlfriend over who’s turn it is to do make up in the mirror.

    3. “Doing things that nobody could’ve did for me in my career”… after he literally said others did way more for him in his career than Dre lol.

    4. The Documentary 2.5 > The Documentary. I used to love the first one so much but the 2.5 is way better.

    5. Seems like every new interview, he’s walking back something he said from a previous interview…

    6. You messed up. You went against a “corporate money maker” and have been blacklisted. Watch The Boys on Amazon and replace the superheroes with artists. It’s a machine running things.

    9. Game is easily one of the best rappers of the last 20 years BUT the lame things that he does and says makes you forget about his music and just focus on the goofy things he does outside the music. I didn’t even think he realizes how much he has killed his own career

    11. It’s almost like you shouldn’t get wasted on TV and talk shit about people who helped make your career 🤡 he should go to A.A. Meetings

    12. To be honest I only listened to game and 50 to begin with was because of their affiliation with Em. He kickstarted a lot of dudes and don’t get the recognition. And put a lot of people on. I obviously grew to like 50 and game for what they brought but that’s why I put in their CD in the first place when they first dropped
