Future, Metro Boomin & Kendrick Lamar Sued Over ‘Like That’

Future, Metro Boomin and Kendrick Lamar have been sued over unpaid royalties relating to a sample used on Drake diss track “Like That”.

Rodney O, who’s song “Everlasting Bass” is sampled on the chart-topper, is also suing the estate of Barry White who is sampled on the “Like That” remix released by Kanye West.

Rodney is claiming that he has not been paid royalties from the song and that a proper release was never secured for the sample.

He also criticized being left off the songwriting credits for the track when it was submitted to the Grammys and that he was not given the version that featured Lamar’s inflammatory verse.

A representative for Metro Boomin told TMZ that they did obtain the rights to the sample and paid Rodney O $50,000.

The rep also offers that Rodney’s issues should be focused on the estate of Barry White who may be holding up royalty payments through their relationship with Epic Records.

The estate of Barry White are yet to comment on the suit.

Last year, Rodney O spoke about clearing the sample for the hit song.

He said to Vibe: “It is crazy because the song was big when it came out and for it to be even bigger now all these years later, it’s crazy. I heard the song, I knew it was good, but when it comes out and the world hears it how you hear it and react to it the way you reacted to it, that’s confirmation.

“Every song that I’ve cleared, they’ve sent it to me prior and I’ve been able to check it out. A lot of people have used the same sample in the past, but when I heard [‘Like That’], I was like ‘they totally demolished it.’”

His claim that he did not hear the song in full also appears true as he said at the time: “Somebody called me the day before it came out and said, ‘Hey man, I got some news for you…I actually heard Kendrick is on that record.’”

“And I was like, “No, Kendrick ain’t on that record because I have it. Songs now they’ll be two minutes and 30 seconds, so when I heard it, I’m like, ‘That’s the whole song.’ So I said, ‘He might be on a remix or something like that,’ that’s what I’m thinking.”

    1. music business is a fucking disgrace filled with worthless homos like BENDERICK LAMERS and all these retard sellouts just that simple FUCK HOLLYWOOD AND FUCK EVERY RAP F8GGOT DEATH TO UMG💥🫵🏿🚮📉🤢

    2. Anyone remember that remix C00NYE did? I thought not LOL. Telling Kendrick he got him. LMAO No one cared bc he was already more washed up than a whale that flopped in the Atlantic. Now he is mad that Kendrick was able to kill Drake, something he couldn’t do with his washed up ABC bars.

      1. Shut up C00N enabler! You should be the last person to ever talk about sucking dick.

    3. Just another day ending with Y of the music industry fucking over musicians who actually make the music.

    4. Suing over a sample you stole from someone else?! Good Googley Goo….

      That’s some n*gg^ sht frfr!

    5. He heard the song before they put Kendrick on it. He cleared that song. The version with Kendrick wasn’t cleared. If thean had heard the Kendrick verse, he wouldn’t have cleared it. They know that, that’s why they didn’t let him hear the version with Kendrick. He is going to win the lawsuit, and Kendrick will take another “L” in the battle he lost. Kendrick cheated by using bots and needing 45 other rappers to diss Drake. Kendrick needed SZA to sell tickets. Drake went at every single artist by himself. He told Cole to fall back because he was gonna handle it. Drake did a tour after Kenny quit making diss tracks, and Drake didn’t perform any diss tracks on that tour because he actually has a catalog that people enjoy. Kendrick needed SZA, a pop up concert, the super bowl and Bots to be on the charts next to Drake. Drake doesn’t need all that to chart. Drake won. Kenny didn’t stop any bodies career. Where is TDE? No Schoolboy Q, no Ab Soul, no J Rock? Kenny not even putting his own label on like Drake puts his label on. Wait, Drake owns his own label and Kendrick is signed to another man’s label. He doesn’t do anything better than Drake and he is not even close to being on Drake’s level to even compete.

      1. written by a broke pussyless bum that stans a pedophile LMAO kendrick out here doing $10m a show while you type to men on the internet. you drake dick suckers need to off yourselfs already
