Freddie Gibbs is taking credit for saving Joe Rogan from getting beat up for saying the N-word. The Alfredo rapper was a guest on the Kill Tony Show comedy podcast on Monday (March 21), where newbie comedians come to try out new material. Rogan served as a panelist on the show when Gibbs approached the mic, but that didn’t stop the Indiana lyricist from cracking a few jokes at Rogan’s expense over the N-word controversy that plagued him earlier this year.
“The world is changing, shit. Joe Rogan said n-gga and shit,” Gibbs joked looking at Rogan.
“It’s been years,” Rogan replied, asking Gibbs to, “let it go.”
“Nah, n-gga that wasn’t years. That was days,” Gibbs said. “He said every n-gga in Philly look like a monkey. Joe, let me tell you something, n-gga. You lucky I got family in Philadelphia because they was coming there to fuck you up. I held all n-ggas back on behalf of Joe. Y’all give me a round of applause, n-gga.”
Gibbs added that Rogan, “better appreciate it,” saying that moving forward the podcast host has to “get the n-gga approval from the realest n-gga ever.”
The controversy began in February when R&B singer India.Arie posted a compilation video online of Joe Rogan dropping the N-word multiple times over the course of many years on his show. As the host of The Joe Rogan Experience faced backlash, Gibbs appeared as a guest on his podcast as the criticism peaked, and reminded Rogan he couldn’t say it.
“You can’t say that shit, Joe,” Gibbs said on the episode. “You pissed n-ggas off when you did that compilation. It was funny as fuck, though. I can’t even lie.”
“I don’t think you’re racist, my n-gga,” Freddie continued. “You my n-gga, I fuck with you. I never thought you was racist. I just thought you was saying some shit you shouldn’t have said and a lot of us n-ggas say some shit we shouldn’t say sometimes, but it is what it is.”

Freddie Gibbs calls out Joe on stage for calling Black people apes

If white people stopped spending money on rap music, concerts, and sports, where would some of these people be right now ? Maybe its time to accept the fact that using the N word as a greeting was a bad idea. Since the 90’s the word has been used in a similar fashion to the word “dude”. (Same thing with the word bitch for women) They delegitimized the original meaning of the word and then act suprised when their fans copied them.
THANK YOU! I don’t see any black musician or whatever telling white people ‘don’t buy my music’ or ‘don’t come to my game’.
I’d be willing to bet most of the artists don’t care. I’d also be willing to bet most people in general don’t care. It’s the amplified voices of the Twittersphere that makes this a bigger thing than it is.
Gibbs is funny as hell. He says some ignorant, dumb ass shit sometimes though. I’m a fan of his music so that’s all I really want to hear about. Just wanna get an official release date for SSS.
It’s just annoying he always talking and trying to act tough, he got small dick syndrome or something.
Primary consumer of your product is white, you use derogative terminology, and expect them not to say the shit (private or otherwise)? Might just be time to do away with the word. But the whole of hip hop is corrupted far more than it’s incessant use of our ancestors torment.
Black people use the n-word all the time, how come they get away with that shit?
freddie gibbs, about 2-3 months late with this statement on joe rogan. this should be the final nail in the coffin for joe. gibbs the indiana gangsta rapper with a cop father.
What’s there if I’m been called a n*gga by my white friend when we’re making good money and fucking them ladies? I mean it’s not like there’s weeps doing the talking… It’s time we accept it, it won’t take anything from us… its time the word is used by all and that’s how you move on..
