Fat Joe has suggested that J. Cole dinged his own legacy after apologizing to Kendrick Lamar.
The rapper sat down with the Jay Shetty Podcast for an episode that aired on Monday (July 29). He offered up his opinion on the way in which the Dreamville leader backing down in his rap battle with K. Dot affected his reputation.

Joe began: “I had one of the biggest, most dangerous beefs with 50 Cent, and I was sitting next to him at the game yesterday, having the best time in the world. We’re brothers. When you’re called out in Hip-Hop, you gotta respond. I’m a big fan of J. Cole, but it started from that.
“He probably saw that it could get real messy and real ugly and so he said, ‘Yo, you know this ain’t me I don’t want no parts of it.’ But, he definitely got a stripe off… They took a stripe off that because in Hip-Hop, when they call you out, you come out.”

Fat Joe isn’t the only rapper who took issue with J. Cole’s apology.

Speaking with Justin Laboy on The Download podcast, Kanye branded Cole a “pussy” for backing down in his rap battle with K. Dot, which saw them trade shots on “Like That” and “7 Minute Drill.”
“Fuck all that pussy shit. Fuck all that shit, man. Because it’s like, that n-gga J. Cole went on tour with Drake. He knows what it is. It’s like, n-gga, you can’t run now,” Ye said, referencing Cole and Drizzy’s co-headlining Big As the What? Tour.
50 Cent also did not appear to be happy at the idea of another rapper backing down from a feud.
Alongside a screenshot of the North Carolina native’s comments, 50 wrote on Instagram: “WTF how I miss this, @realcoleworld call my phone right now!”

Other MCs, though, were on the “No Role Modelz” rapper’s side.
T.I. gave props to Cole, having said: “I feel he chose peace and tranquility. You gotta have thick skin and really be unfazed and unbothered. And we don’t know the temperament or the sensitivity of Cole’s dynamic. We’ve never seen Cole upset. We don’t know where that would take him.”
