Eminem Gives Shady Records’ Westside Boogie ‘Green Light’ For His New Album

Eminem’s signing Westside Boogie has gone through a big change in the two years since he released his debut album, opting to change his name from simply “Boogie” that will separate him from A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie when people go to search for him. Now, he’s ready to return with new music under his revised moniker.

On Tuesday evening (May 11), the Compton-bred rapper took to Instagram to share a photo of himself in the studio with Eminem after making the trip to Detroit to play him his new album. Thankfully for him, the Shady Records co-founder gave his approval.

“Just played my music for this random dude in Detroit,” he wrote in the caption. “He just gave me the green light.”

In May 2020, Westside Boogie spoke to HotNewHipHop about his relationship with Eminem and his assistance with his upcoming album.

“When we talk it’s regular, he’s like a regular person,” he said. “But when he calls, somebody else calls first and then they’ll be like, ‘Marshall’s on the phone,’ and I feel like I’m about to talk to my teacher or something.”

He added, “What makes it great about him is he just lets me grow as an artist and let me do what I gotta do. If I need something from him I can always reach out. As far as my work I don’t really want other people influencing my ideas, I wanna get my own thoughts off, I don’t really involve too many people honestly.”

6LACK, Westside Boogie & BRS Kash Lead LVRN Spotify Collaboration

Eminem’s collaboration with the 31-year-old, “Rainy Days,” has over 31 million views on YouTube.

Westside Boogie released his debut album Everythings for Sale in January 2019 after signing to Shady Records in October 2017. The project featured Em, 6LACK, JID and Snoh Aalegra, and debuted at No. 28 on the Billboard 200 chart with roughly 18,397 album-equivalent units sold in its first week.

Over the course of 2021, Boogie been dropping freestyles over songs such as 2Pac’s “Do 4 Love” and CJ’s “Whoopty” on his YouTube channel. Managed by LVRN, he most recently took part in the company’s cypher for Spotify’s RapCaviar alongside 6LACK, BRS Kash, NoonieVsEverybody and OMB Bloodbath — watch it below.

    1. But not Conway. That’s fucked up. He should’ve dropped his album by now.

      1. Conway is garbage plus he’s not even with shady anymore. He ran away because em wasn’t there to wipe his ass. Had no clue about anything and sounds just like any other black artists. Be better than everyone not sound like everyone

    2. Ever notice how Eminem’s artists never do what Dre’s did? Dre gave the world Snoop, Dogg Pound, Eminem, 50 cent, and Game.

Eminem’s given the world… What has he given the hip-hop community besides his own story? Some people giveth and some people taketh, and Marshall keeps taking.

Nice to know he’s trying to sell another black guy… ‘s music. For some reason, he always turns on them and destroys their career in the end. A shame he had to be so jealous of other people’s talents. He could have had a string of artists carrying on his name right now.

      1. What kind of ish you been smoking on? If anything, Em gave a lot of black artists chances. Some failed themselves and some prospered. Em never ruined no ones career that he signed on his label. It was the artist/s that decided to end their careers. Stop talking rubbish.

      2. Your hate for Em is so loud that you don’t realize when you are commenting live from your arse??????

      3. 50’s first 2 albums went diamond on the strength of Eminem’s star power. Obie Trice went platinum on his debut. Same with D12. He gave Royce his first #1 album. Imagine being this stupid lol

      4. You sound like all you doing is talking b******* that dude change the industry. Icon top 5. Period

      5. You have no idea how wrong you are. Helped alot of people not just black in the rap world. You mfers just jealous a white man kills every rapper not just black artists. Every single rapper wants to work with em. What have you done with your worthless life lately

      6. Hmmm…
Your words, “ A shame he had to be so jealous of other people’s talents.”
        Were you deflecting?
And please inform us what all the other artists that you name have done? They all told their stories time and time again too. However, Mr. Undercover Stan… He never turned on anyone and destroyed their career. He is the label head, not a manager or the promoter. How silly if you sign to Eminem and still couldn’t make it just with his name alone. People like you want to be handed once in a lifetime opportunities, then want the same person who gave it to you to be your handler. He worked hard for his success…Try it.

      1. Sounded like early Young Thug songs lol… Em’s fast rapping didn’t fit the vibe, plus that shit played out hahaha
