Eminem, Conway The Machine and The Alchemist might have something cooking. On Friday (February 26), an Instagram photo of the talented trifecta started making the rounds, immediately sparking collaboration rumors. Conway only fueled the flames by resharing the post and adding a “shh” emoji in the caption.
But the prospect has yielded mixed reactions — some don’t want Slim Shady involved at all while others will only welcome Em into the fold if “Conway can make Eminem rap and not be rich and corny.”
Still, there were plenty of fans who can’t wait to see what comes to fruition and even more who were enthralled with the idea of Em “finally rapping over some fire beats.” While Alchemist has been Shady’s tour DJ for years, the seasoned producer has only help craft a handful of songs for him, more recently the Music To Be Murdered By cut “Step Dad.”
Conway and the rest of his Griselda brethren signed a distribution deal with Shady Records in 2017, but it hasn’t always been smooth sailing. After expressing his frustration with the label on numerous occasions, Westside Gunn appeared on The Joe Budden Podcast in November 2020 and officially announced he was no longer affiliated with the label.
“Um, I’m off Shady,” he said at the time “I’m off Shady. I’m actually a free agent. It feels great. Who Made The Sunshine was it. I already spoke to Paul [Rosenberg]. Everything’s good. Like, everything’s signed, sealed and delivered I have my paperwork, like I’m off Shady.
“I’m one of those type of dudes I’m not no public talkin’ n-gga. That’s just how I move. It’s like sayin’ me and Benny or me and Conway or Conway and Benny or whoever, we might have a disagreement, but the world will never know. We still gonna be brothers and cousins. It’s the same way even with business, because at the end of the day, this a big world. Even if somebody else is a sucka, I’m never gonna play that sucka role.”
As for Benny The Butcher, he’s preparing to release his new EP Plugs I Met 2 on March 19, but there’s no Shady affiliation either. Meanwhile, The Alchemist is likely anticipating the Grammy Awards later this month where he and Freddie Gibbs are up for a gilded trophy in the Best Rap Album category for Alfredo.
nobody wants to hear em in 2021
Nobody wants to hear you bitch about em in 2021
His streaming numbers say otherwise.
Dont believe that numbers… its all fake, thats how the industry works. Ive been a real fan of Em, i even have an original copy of The Slim Shady EP , but i cant stand his music since 2013, i try it … but i cant.
MGK, is that you?
So, just because you personally dont listen to his music anymore that makes the numbers fake? Lol okay
Gotta love how sales/popularity doesn’t matter unless it fits a certain narrative. Am I right, people?
Hating on Em seems like a popular thing to do these days…
Oh, God forbid that people have different opinions and tastes.
I don’t get it, these dude’s boring albums get released…..but slaughter house gets shelved???
Exactly, Slaughterhouse got shelved mostly due to Joe Budden running his mouth and being an idiot. I never got into Griselda simply because of WSG and he already takes up 1/3 of its presence. Conway and Benny are not bad but get stale quickly. AYO. AYO. AYO. BOOBOOBOOO. DOOTDOOTDOOT. BRRRRRRRR. SKKKKKRRTT.
All fake. Like covid.
Aren’t you one of those insurrectionists. I thought y’all were prohibited from being on internet forums. Get off of here before you get caught violating your terms of release.
Your brain is the only thing fake here, retard. GTFOH with that bullshit. I’ve lost family members who were in the service to the virus. 500,000 plus lives gone.
FOH, Russian Trollbot
Suit yourselves. I’m anticipating this.
All suburban “real hip hop” fans, rejoice.
To be fair though , if it weren’t for those surburban hip hop fans you seemingly despise , hip hop would never have achieved the level of worldwide popularity it gained since it’s humble beginnings a few decades ago.
Yes, I’m fully aware of that. Doesn’t make them any less annoying with their “ReAl HiP hOp” elitist bullshit. And I love how sales/popularity don’t matter unless it fits a certain narrative.
Well to your point, eminem is popular because he fits into 2 narratives well. One best rapper alive (to an audience that was cold to hiphop) and two best “Rhymer” alive (as in a person respected by the culture for his skill). On top of that eminems music was driven by emotions, another thing people can universally grasp onto. Eminems insane popularity is pretty much because he has the magic formula, and he is insanely talented. This come up basically filters eminem fans into 2 groups, hiphop fans and non-hiphop fans. The “suburban real hiphop fans” are louder than the real hip hop ones because the real hip hop ones are older. There was a demographic difference between the warm and cold audiences emimem was introduced to, the warm audience was adults living in the culture and the cold was essentially “white America”. My point of all this is that some major artists do what eminem has done, but they only appeal to the cold audience because that’s where the money is. Eminem was able to simultaneously appeal to both, which built the hiphop platform larger (after eminems existence, rapping was more profitable and people could more easily make a living off it.) Considering eminems true fans were in there 20’s – 30s when he started, that leaves the majority of his VOCAL fans in the 15 – 30 range now. Basically what I’m saying is, there is a difference between hiphop and what the mainstream puts out as hiphop, no other artist with the magnitude of success will ever cater to its true fans the way eminem did, and he absolutely doesn’t deserved to be dragged for what he did now that his true fans aren’t in the conversation anymore, he should be celebrated.
I forgot Alchemist did a song on MTBMB. “Step Dad” was trash and didn’t sound like an Alchemist beat. The only other times he’s worked with Em were on a few tracks for The Re-Up back in ’06 (none of which had Em on them) and Em appeared on a song from ALC’s Chemical Warfare album, but he was in his Relapse Norwegian accent phase. I’m down for a full album, but I highly doubt that’s gonna happen. Probably just a one off song from all three if anything.
Also Em rapped with the rest of D12 on ALChemist produced “Get Back”
eminem is so boring. Please stop making music or do high quality features. Where is the Proof Album, Royce Collab, features with new and legendary artists, if anything the time has almost passed for a Nas, Rakim, KRS, LL Cool J and Kanye Masta Ace collab. We got a bunch of trash features and boring concepts. eminem sucks
Letterally had 3 royce features on his last album. And also Black Thought and Q-Tip. Wtf are you even talking bout
Eminem is the GOAT
Nah, Nas is the GOAT.
Eminem should spit serial killer shit to 70’s soul beats… bring back Slim Shady #OhMyGawd
Bring it. Or should I say… brrrrrring it!
