A 14-year-old drill rapper that goes by the name Lil Tuda has been shot and killed in Chicago over the weekend, making him the latest rapper from the city to lose his life to gun violence.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, Lil Tuda (real name Timothy Lockhart) was shot in the head on Chicago’s West Side at 4:45 p.m. on Saturday (June 17) on the 100 block of South Homan Avenue. He was pronounced dead at Stroger Hospital in Chicago.

Another 14-year-old boy was shot multiple times alongside Lil Tuda and rushed to the same hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition.

Chicago community activist Andrew Holmes told the outlet the shooting involving both teenage boys — which occurred during Father’s Day weekend and the Juneteenth holiday — was a tragedy.

“I’m not happy at all,” Holmes began. “Father’s Day, Juneteenth, celebrating for what? Until we can stop this gun violence, Black-on-Black crime, and get these individuals in custody, then talk to me. But, we got two babies, two babies here.”

He continued: “So, how are their fathers going to be happy? How are their mothers going to be happy? How is this family going to be happy? It’s wrong. Turn these individuals in.”

In a tweet on Monday (June 19), 16th & 17th District Chicago Police Scanner said the Chicago drill rapper was allegedly a member of the DMG (Dirty Money Gang) which is a set of Gangster Disciples and Black P Stones.

Lil Tuda is latest victim of gun violence in a tragic spate of murders that has been plaguing Chicago for some time.

In April, ShortyMobb rapper Lil Ronald was shot and killed in Chicago. The 14-year-old boy, whose identity was not released to ABC 7 Chicago at the time, was shot in the chest while sitting in a car. He was subsequently taken to South Shore Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Chicago rapper Edai was shot and killed in August 2021. According to SayCheese TV, he was shot multiple times in the back and rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital where he died. Edai is often credited for helping pioneer the Chicago drill scene alongside fellow Chi-Town rapper Chief Keef.

In a more high-profile case, Chicago’s FBG Duck was shot and killed in August 2020. The 26-year-old rapper was one of three victims in a shooting in the Windy City’s Gold Coast neighborhood. Police said three people were shopping on Oak Street, which is home to multiple luxury retail stores, when two vehicles pulled up to the scene. Four people got out of the vehicles and allegedly opened fire at the shoppers.

In lieu of this terrible tragedy, one drill rapper from the East Coast is hoping to make a change from behind bars.

On Saturday (June 17), Bronx drill rapper Kay Flock took to Instagram and released an extended declaration that talks about his current legal affairs and also delves into how he plans to use his power and influence for good while incarcerated.

He began by apologizing to his fans, his entire family, his team, his brothers “that’s home” and those who he’s lost in the streets. He then talked about being arrested for murder in December 2021 and being indicted for several racketeering conspiracy charges earlier this year.

Toward the end of his message, the “DOA” artist said he wants to influence the youth to make better choices through a new campaign.
