Drake still has a friend in DeMar DeRozan, despite the fact the NBA baller appeared in the video for Kendrick Lamar’s scathing diss against him.

In a new conversation with The Sacramento Bee published on Wednesday (July 24), DeRozan emphasized that Drizzy is still his man and that everything else was just entertainment.

“Drake’s still my man, still my man, none of it changed,” the ballplayer said said. “It’s so easy to get overlooked and look at it for what it looks like, but at the end of the day it’s music, entertainment. Two of the biggest rappers in the world went at it from a competitive standpoint and they battled it out. That’s what you want to see as a fan: Kobe [Bryant] playing [Michael] Jordan one-on-one and see who wins, see the trash talking, and whoever wins out of that, you’re still going to have the debate, so that’s all that is.”

While the NBA star is a Los Angeles native like K.Dot, he established a relationship with Drake in the mid 2010s when he played for the Toronto Raptors for several years. They even appeared together on the cover of Slam Magazine’s “6 Gods” issue in 2016.

Of being in “Not Like Us,” DeRozan added:  “It was fun to be a part of. For that moment, it was so much bigger than what people look at it as a beef between (Lamar) and Drake. It brought our whole city together in a different type of light where there wasn’t no issues, no violence. Everybody was coming together in a peaceful manner and that was the beauty out of those moments.”

He added: “Kendrick is basically family. Obviously we’re from the same city, but that’s family. Whatever I ever need from him, I ask him and vice versa. When he did the song, he asked me to be a part of it, and whatever it is he’s doing, I’m going to be a part of it without a thought. That’s kind of always been our relationship.”

According to Akademiks, Drake and Kendrick Lamar‘s beef is not over yet, as the 6 God is readying a response to the Compton kingpin on an upcoming song.

Speaking on his Rumble channel on Thursday (July 18), the media personality, who claims to have been in close contact with Drizzy throughout the high-profile battle, says he has some inside info on the Canadian’s eagerly anticipated next move.

“It’s sneak dissing time. It’s really never over. I can’t wait to hear the first sneak diss,” he said. “Matter of fact, I won’t even tell y’all what I heard but the first sneak diss Drake got that’s dissing Kendrick, how he positions it, that’s going to be interesting.”
