Drake and 21 Savage fans thought they were in for a treat when Drizzy teased that the pair would be teaming up for a special NPR’sTiny Desk performance — but it looks like he was just trolling.

As the pair’s collaborative album Her Loss is set to drop on Friday (November 4), Drake took to Instagram to post a clip of what looked like an upcoming Tiny Desk performance.

“Thank you to @nprmusic @tinydesk for having the gang @21savage let’s go crazy,” the 6 God wrote in the caption. In the clip, both rap stars can be heard introducing themselves, with Drake taking the lead.

“What’s up everybody, appreciate you joining us today, the audience, everybody at home, my name is Drake,” the 6 God said. “21 Savage,” the Atlanta rapper chimed in, before Drizzy added: “And this is our tiny desk. Let’s get into it.”

However, Tiny Desk founder Bob Boilen has since dismissed the authenticity of Drake’s post but invited the “God’s Plan” hitmaker to do a “real” performance on the show.

“Drake, let’s make this real,” Boilen wrote on his Instagram Story alongside a screenshot of Drizzy’s fake performance. “Open invitation to play my desk. @nprmusic the Desk awaits @champagnepapi.”

This isn’t the first stunt the pair have pulled in order to promote their upcoming new album. On Monday (October 31), the pair shared what looked like a cover of Vogue with the two of them on it.

“Me and my brother on newsstands tomorrow,” Drizzy wrote of the moment on Instagram. “Thanks @voguemagazine and Anna Wintour for the love and support on this historic moment Her Loss Nov 4th.”

Rolling Stone journalist Simon Vozick-Levinson debunked the claim, tweeting photos of the inside of the magazine, writing: “A street teamer just handed me a copy of this. it’s not a real magazine – it’s a photoshopped version of Vogue‘s October issue with a bunch of promo art for 21 and Drake’s new album. pretty funny stunt.”

Drizzy and 21 were planning to drop Her Loss on October 28 but ended up pushing back the project out of respect for Noah “40” Shebib, who contracted COVID-19 while working on the tape. 21 Savage and the 6 God.

The new record has seemingly caused A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie to delay his album. The rapper announced he’d be delaying the release of Me Vs. Myself because he didn’t want any smoke with the duo’s new tape.

“Sorry but album dropping in December now, Drake was dropping same day and I’m not with that,” Boogie wrote on his IG with multiple laughing emojis.
