DJ Khaled & Kendrick Lamar Lead 2018 BET Award Nominations

The list of nominees for the upcoming BET Awards, which go down June 24 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, was released Wednesday (May 16). Unsurprisingly, TDE, Migos, Drake, and Cardi B all have a significant presence in the music categories of the list, but DJ Khaled leads nominations with six total.

Khaled’s Rihanna/Bryson Tiller-assisted “Wild Thoughts” is in the running for Best Collaboration, Video of the Year, and the Coca-Cola Viewers’ Choice Award. “Top Off” featuring JAY-Z, Future & Beyoncé is also up for Best Collaboration, while Khaled himself is nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, and his album Grateful for Album of the Year. 2017’s BET Awards saw the We The Best founder just once, under the Best Collaboration category.

Kendrick Lamar closely trails Khaled with five nominations. His joint work with Rihanna, “LOYALTY.”, is nominated for Best Collaboration, while “HUMBLE.” is in the running for Video of the Year. K. Dot will be looking to repeat last year’s victory in the Best Male Hip Hop Artist category, this time going up against Drake, Khaled, JAY-Z and J.Cole.

As for the ladies, SZA earns four nominations, battling against Beyoncé, Rihanna, H.E.R. and Kehlani for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. She is also set for the grand title of Best New Artist, alongside H.E.R., Daniel Caesar, GoldLink, and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. Last year, the award was claimed by Chance The Rapper.

Cardi B and Nicki Minaj are again nominated for Best Female Hip Hop Artist, an award they previously lost to Remy Ma, who is also on this years’ bill.

    1. steph curry sportsman of the year?! for having hissy fits and throwing his mouth guard?!! ahhhh haha

    2. DJ Khaled as best male hip hip artist? Can you even consider him a hip hop artist? I don’t think shouting ‘we the best’ and reusing Wyclef beats qualifies you for anything, except under talented and over paid.

      1. Even though i don’t agree with him being on the list when you have an artist like Joey Badass releasing one of the best albums of last year he is a DJ which makes him a hip hop artist. Even though he’s more a producer then a ‘REAL’ DJ so its more of a technicality

    3. Doesn’t rap, doesn’t make any original beats, doesn’t even DJ most of the time…. why the fuck do people keep listed this clown as a “hip hop artist”?

    4. lets just hope that fat ass motherfucker stays in that pool with his big ass titties.
