Major key alert: DJ Khaled’s ninth studio album has officially gone gold.
The Major Key project was in highly visible in the commercial space for its top-heavy standout singles, such as “For Free” with Drake, (which had everybody rapping alongside the Akinyele sample), Jay Z and Future’s unlikely pairing on “I Got the Keys,” Nas making a concrete announcement with “Nas Album Done,” and Kendrick Lamar’s bars on “Holy Key.”
The cover art to Major Key also gained notoriety on its own, as the Snapchat King posed with an actual lion, shot by legendary photographer Jonathan Mannion.
So what better way to celebrate than a dinner in conjunction with the release of his new book The Keys? The release date for his first written piece stands as November 22, but it’s currently available for pre-order now. Longtime followers and fans will want to obtain a copy of the self-help book to find out who “they” are, as heard in Khaled’s Snapchats.
The celebration dinner took place on Saturday, November 12 in Los Angeles. However, the We The Best leader wasn’t the only person being praised tonight. It was also Future’s 33rd birthday, in which Khaled gifts him with a brand new Rolex Sky-Dweller.
And of course, it didn’t happen if it wasn’t on Snapchat.
In addition, Major Key is Khaled’s first project released on Epic Records, which he signed to in April of this year. CEO L.A. Reid was nothing but smiles according to the photos.
Others superstars in attendance included Nas, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, Big Sean, Timbaland, August Alsina, Mariah Carey, will.i.am, Los Angeles Clippers coach Doc Rivers, and more.
Do you think the project deserved its gold status? Let us know in the comment section below.
At least DJ Khaled makes better songs with different artis than DJ mustard
Not a huge Khaled fan, but he keeps grinding. 2016 has been a great year for him. Congrats!
Yes, this project does deserve it’s gold status. However, it’s all a game… Just like Kanye said during his rant, Khaled is a politician. I know he speaks positivity, but it’s something there just not right about him. Right now, hip hop is full of characters….
He is overcompensating something. Can’t stop looking like a douche doing things normal people did (hell they themselves recorded lots of better albums without screaming on each track, nevermind the numbers) while letting us know he’s alright, life is good and sun is shining like he’s some disabled person or maybe we need some cheering. Hollering I GOTTA STAY HUMBLE aint humble bruh, you’ll make any bad guy look good doing that life coach mouth bs.
there you got ladys and gentleman, that’s the power of the industry pushing somebody to the top with no talent or nothing special, the machinery of Hollywood can not be stopped in a world of social media when the suckas guide theyr lifes by views, likes and comments and not by quality
