DJ Khaled Claims He Has Biggest-Selling Air Jordan Collaboration Ever

DJ Khaled says his We The Best x Air Jordan 5 collaboration is the biggest release in Air Jordan collab history.

The famed music figure made the assertion in a new episode of Sneaker Shopping with Complex‘s Joe La Puma that was published on Monday (October 9). Standing in his We The Best Snipes superstore in Miami Beach, Khaled shared the news about the salmon-colored kicks.

“The We The Best 5s, the Jordan 5s, was the biggest release number-wise in Jordan-collaboration history,” he said. “Do your research and get to it ASAP. We’re talking numbers. Because when I put these out and the Coconuts, I wanted to make sure we did a worldwide thing.”

He continued: “And we did it big. Any Jordan release is gonna be the biggest, [but] I was just excited to make history for my first sneaker release.”

Backing up his claims, Complex found a clip where Jordan’s VP of Entertainment Marketing, Reggie Saunders, confirmed what Khaled said.

“This is the largest launch of any collaborator we’ve ever worked with,” he says in the clip. Watch the full Sneaker Shopping episode below.

This particular We The Best x Air Jordan collaboration arrived on Cyber Monday in 2022, retailing for $225. DJ Khaled first revealed the collaboration in April of that year, showcasing three other colorways that seem to be exclusive to family and friends. Khaled got a stamp of approval from Kanye West after showing him some sample pairs earlier this year.

The legendary Jadakiss was tapped to help promote the collab, with the ad spot arriving just weeks before the kicks touched down.

They ain’t believe in us, MJ did,” DJ Khaled says in the commercial before passing the torch to Kiss – who proceeds to spit a set of fiery bars about the kicks.

No matter what, all I ever knew was keep flowing/ Air Jordan 5 We The Best keep going/ Because they didn’t believe in him, only thing you see me in/ The colorway’s amazing, the leather’s premium,” Jada raps.

The sneakers are part of a larger “We The Best” collection.

    1. This is 🧢 I was just at that snipes store and it’s a 1000 of those we the best shoes sitting. The biggest Jordan collab is the Travis Scott’s

    2. DJ INVALID is 1 of the corniest, cringiest, annoyingest, talentless mfers on Earth and if you’re over the age of 30 and still wearing corny played out Jordans you really do need to re-evaluate your whole entire existence.

    3. Who gives a $hit about a shoe collection. Your dumb a$$ never picked up a basketball in you life. It’s people like you Khaled who pointed Hip Hop in the wrong direction. When you look up culture vulture your name is at the top of the list. Carry on!!!

    4. Biggest release numbers wise, yes. But how much did they sell? That’s the real question. What percentage of pairs released sold for retail? And what’s the price now etc

    8. Yeah, cornballs like Khaled is a big reason why I avoid wearing Js. Fuck Jordan and his goofy ass sneakers tho. The man can barely piece an outfit together.
