Diddy To Receive Industry Icon Award At 2020 Pre-Grammy Gala

Diddy can officially call himself an icon during the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards weekend. The Recording Academy has selected the Bad Boy Records founder as the Salute To Industry Icons honoree for the 2020 Pre-Grammy Gala, which is scheduled to take place on January 25.

“For nearly three decades, Diddy has fused his boundless creativity and sharp entrepreneurial spirit to create timeless art and build brands and institutions that have shifted our global music culture,” Recording Academy president/CEO Deborah Dugan said in a press release.

She continued, “By bringing the music and lifestyle of East Coast Hip Hop to the masses, he was an early reminder of music’s unifying ability to flip our perceptions and broaden our connections to all corners of the world. Over the years, Diddy has persistently empowered other music creators and we’re honored to celebrate his culture-shaping impact at this year’s Pre-Grammy Gala.”

The upcoming gala is co-hosted by longtime industry executive Clive Davis, who was a mentor to Diddy.

“It’s personally so gratifying that Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs is this year’s icon,” Davis said. “He fully deserves this wonderful recognition. From his past innovative and creative contributions right from the very inception of the Hip Hop revolution to his many memorable appearances at the Pre-Grammy Gala as both speaker and performer, it’s all come full circle. I couldn’t be happier for Sean as a dear friend and colleague.”

Diddy expressed his appreciation for the honor and spoke on the importance of his relationship with Davis.

“Clive Davis and Arista Records gave me a chance when I was starting Bad Boy Records, he was one of the first industry executives to really believe in me,” the Hip Hop mogul noted. “I’m forever grateful for him. To be honored at this year’s Pre-Grammy Gala and receive the Industry Icons Award is truly a blessing.”

Davis and the Recording Academy’s Pre-Grammy Gala is an invitation-only event. Previous Industry Icon Award honorees include JAY-Z, Berry Gordy and L.A. Reid.

    1. No talented weasel. Puff daddy? He sucked the best cock. Always stealing from other artists. Never wrote a rhyme in his life. Puff bought this award. Glad his career is over.

    2. In America, Caitlyn Jenner is WOMAN OF THE YEAR, Ellen is the most loved person, Amazon is the #1 supplier of goods for those who claim to be agaisnt corporate greed, those who literally start wars, such as Obama, are given the NOBLE PEACE PRIZE… America is ass backwards these days, and the PC SJW culture is destroying civilizations worldwide! Call out this BS whenever possible. Noble peace prize is a joke, and should go to someone who truly saved lives, such as those saving North Koreans from labor camps! That’s an actual act of peace! Obama didn’t enact any peace. He bombed the fuck out of Syria. Obama was a wold in sheep’s clothing, but Trump is a wolf in wolf’s clothing, honestly. At least he hasn’t started any new wars though, and is trying to end the war in Syria and Afghanistan.
