Diddy‘s ex and oldest son’s mother Misa Hylton is reflecting on the legacy of Bad Boy and its impact on the culture.
Despite previously blasting Puff for his “leadership” and parenting in 2023 after their son Justin got hit with a DUI, then saying her ex needs to get help back in May amid his mounting legal troubles and the video with Cassie, Misa took a more positive approach in a new post to Instagram on Thursday night (July 11).
In a carousel of photos that included throwbacks of her pregnant, her with Diddy and their son, the late Craig Mack and the late Biggie Smalls, Misa wrote: “1993. I was pregnant. Puffy just got fired from Uptown records. Dre said there cannot be two Kings in a castle. He was right. It comes a time.”
“Puffy was scared. He had a child on the way and we just moved into a Big beautiful new home. He had me call Dre and ask for his job back several times. Dre stood on business. The same way a father would when it’s time for his son to make that move.”
She continued: “I told Puffy he could do it. He was a mastermind. He just had to do exactly what he had been doing successfully at Uptown Records. Just for himself now. I wasn’t scared. I believed in him. Bad Boy started in our basement in Scarsdale, NY. Thanks to the legendary Bert Padell.
“One night we were at the palladium and Puff was about to give Flex THE RECORD. I can still picture that moment. We were at the bar patiently waiting for the record to be played. The crowd response was going to tell us everything we needed to know. Flava in your Ear played Everyone went CRAZZZYYYYYY Puff looked at me and said you see this shit Mees!! I just smiled. It’s Bad Boyyyyyyy!
“My Life Story My experience Beside every Bad Boy was a Bad gyal!**Please do not come here with any negativity, instead try praying for all involved. You cannot erase history and cultural impact. This is also OUR legacy. EVERY single person whose blood, sweat, tears, talent and business acumen went into this movement. WERE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED WERE YOU NOT INSPIRED??! btw- I had Justin at 19years old, I turned 20yrs old 7 days later. For a while the internet had my age wrong. I said hey leave it.”
She concluded with saying people should “Stop believing everything on the internet” before sending rest in peace shout outs to Craig Mack, Biggie, Andre Harrell and Bert Padel.
Misa, an accomplished fashion stylist, shares 30-year-old Justin Combs with Diddy. The pair have had an amicable relationship over the years and have been photographed together numerous times, though there were the aforementioned call-outs in more recent times.
In a post to Instagram accompanied by photos of all seven of Puff’s children in May, Misa shared her feelings about the situation with Cassie and said that her ex needs to get help.
“I am heartbroken that Cassie must relive the horror of her abuse, and my heart goes out to her,” she began. “I know exactly how she feels, and through my empathy, it has triggered my own trauma.
“These young people were raised by women that want the best for them – we put God and education first and have always been united in our mutual effort to support their dreams. Two of the youngest do not have their mother here and it has been our duty to support them.”
She concluded: “Their father needs help and I am praying that he truly does the personal work and receives it.”
The post has since been removed.
Dude’s 🥷 legacy is tainted. GTFOH
He loves taints
sorry Misa. Anyone’s legacy can be touched and removed if the crimes and wrongs are related to their work and craft. The CASSIE wrong is one of millions. Sure, he was a great organizer, but he didn’t write or produce anything, but he placed his name on it. He robbed artist for their publishing, allow many of them to die and fade away, preached black excellence, but seemingly treated us the worst. You are of mixed decent. he likes woman of your kind. But that’s his personal preference. Part of his legacy is allowing what to happen to Big, Mack, Lox publishing, the 1991 gym thing, Cassie, Kim Porter, the fake charter school and countless other things. When you are judged, it’s for the good and bad. There is really no real legacy for anyone under God’s eyes. We are all the same. Special to you, yes… personal ties. But for the general public and victims… there is no legacy. Don’t forget the beautiful woman that was shot in the face in 1999- Shyne went to the jail for it….
What legacy. You mean killing Pac and Big. Shooting people at a nightclub, extorting artist out of their publishing and royalties, sodomizing the entire industry, and being a maniacal gay douchebag. Naw that’s with him forever.
I always think that this dude should have persuaded Biggie not to go to Cali so soon after 2Pac’s death. Biggie could have still been alive today.
It’s pretty clear you must have rose colored glasses on. I guess you must be the only person who didn’t see the Cassie assault video, it could have been you. Carry on!!!
His legacy isn’t being erased. It’s being revealed.
