Dame Dash explains his problems with DJ Vlad while getting a trim from Hip Hop Barber Kenyatta.
“Remember when Vlad called me about a comment on [Funkmaster Flex],” Dame Dash says in the video. “I was like, ‘I don’t have no comment on Flex and [Jay Z]. I’m a man.’ Like, you don’t ask me to have a comment on they conversation. You tryna make me look stupid? So you gonna make me look stupid, not pay me…”
After the initial interview offer, Kenyatta says says Vlad texted Dame that it was bad business. Vlad felt threatened.
“[Vlad] said he was going to tell the people at Complex that you threatened their number one breadwinner,” Kenyatta explains.
In the video, Dash and Kenyatta speculate the Vlad could have influenced the “Marc Ecko robbing [Dash] of a deal.” Dame Dash says he and Complex made a deal, but Complex didn’t know what to do with it.
“Fuck all that,” Dash says. “We may have a problem. He told you that he was gonna tell Complex I threatened him? Now you see what my life is. That’s why I’m sick of these mutherfuckers…That’s why all I can do is eat organic food, but I’ve been nauseous since these mutherfuckers doing this shit. Nauseous, I’m juicing on it. I’m nauseous and they gotta get out of here because I wanna eat and they nauseating.”
Dash also questions the Complex business model.
“That’s the thing I didn’t like with the Complex situation,” Dame Dash says in the video. “How you gonna start the new way of doing things and you’re still robbing the artists? Why the artists don’t get paid? Why is the attitude that they doin the artist a favor?”
Last month, Dash took to Instagram to express his frustrations with Marc Ecko and DJ Vlad.
“This is Marc Ecko to me he is the fashion version of Lyor Cohen his Buisness model is make money of urban people…” Dame Dash says in an Instagram post. He did it in fashion but Ecko got corny fast now he thinks he’s gonna do it again with content…when @complex plays artist videos on there sights and all of the artist content on@complex and @vladtv how come they get paid and the artist don’t?….there are commercials… I asked @vladtv and he said he was doing us a favor promoting our stuff while they got paid… Please don’t try to play the millennial generation I’m gonna at least give my culture the information so they don’t get robbed early and he doesn’t own @complex a hedge fund does he’s a nerd with a hedge fund who’s Buisness model is Rob our culture #culturevulture no disrespected to complex staff yall always been cool wit me but your man is out of line and he’s a lame and I’m not just gonna talk about it im going to make a move on you and your whole company watch.. I walk it like I talk it… This is a fight a lot won’t understand but trust me you will thank me later business is war everyday I’m just gonna let yall see it first hand.”
