Conway The Machine is planning to release a deluxe version of From King to a God after dropping the original album three weeks ago (September 11). The Griselda rapper announced his intentions on Wednesday (September 30), while revealing his frustration about not being included in the Lyricist of the Year category at the 2020 BET Hip Hop Awards.
On Instagram, Conway posted a screenshot of Michael Jordan saying, “That was all I needed,” along with the caption, “Mood after seeing I was left off the lyricist of the year nominations.”
The meme from ESPN’s The Last Dance has been all over social media since the documentary aired in April/May, based around MJ saying the smallest of things would motivate him to step up a level during basketball games. Like Jordan, Conway is using what he feels is disrespect by working harder and coming back with even more energy on the music front.

In the comments, several Hip Hop artists supported Conway’s opinion and encouraged him to keep going.
Skyzoo said, “Shit is a straight joke me brother. That’s how they always do though. Smh.”

Cormega simply told him to “3 peat on them,” referring to Michael Jordan winning three NBA championships in a row.

Conway wasn’t the only rapper who thought he should have been picked. Royce Da 5’9″ also reacted to the news by suggesting Roc Nation had an upper hand in making it onto the list.
“I been congregating in the wrong buildings, obviously,” Royce said. ”I’m ciphering with a big ass @bumpboxx outside the next @rocnation brunch with the doorway blocked.”
The nominations for this 2020’s Lyricist of the Year are J. Cole, Big Sean, Drake, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby and Rapsody.
From King to a GOD was released on September 11 featuring Method Man, Havoc, Lloyd Banks, Freddie Gibbs, Benny The Butcher, Westside Gunn, DeJ Loaf and more. The album marked his first appearance on the Billboard 200 chart, debuting at No. 126 in its first week.
“Absolutely NOBODY gave me a single dollar to cook this shit up,” Conway said. “No help from labels, no handouts no nothing, just ME and I did all this shit myself out my own pocket and I’m fuckin proud of the results!!”
