Conway The Machine is the latest rapper to stop by Funk Flex‘s popular Hot 97 show to drop off some gritty New York City bars — check it out below.

Prior to lighting up the mic, the Griselda rapper let the world know that he was about to get in his “New York City Bag” while representing his hometown of Buffalo, New York. He then proceeded to follow DJ Juanyto’s cue and begin his freestyle over the instrumental for Brooklyn newcomer Scar Lip’s viral song “This Is New York.”

“Pullin’ up, somethin’ frosty on the arm/ N-ggas plottin’, but it don’t cause me no alarm/ My dog with me, he’s armed/ No thoughts of being harmed/ Of course, I’m still the don,” Conway The Machine raps.

I tore cities across seas and beyond/How dare you?/To play with me, like I won’t air you/I swear you/Better play with somethin’ safe or be careful/Thought I made it clear to you, I ain’t who you compare to.”

Conway’s freestyle at Hot 97 follows the release of his new documentary WON’T HE DO IT, which sees him going deep on his mental health, trauma and treatment through therapy.

While he prefers to be a recluse, the Griselda rapper knew revealing his struggles could help one of his fans watching the doc in the future.

“The nights of barely any sleep and shit like that and the mental shit that come with this stuff,” he said. “But I really still didn’t realize it that I was having mental health issues in the recent years. I was going through life and thinking everything is okay, but you gotta look at everything around you and all the signs around you.

“[I was] getting upset so fast. Because when I get upset, I kinda shut down. Shutting down leads to me not being creative. Why am I not being creative? Why am I not inspired? Why does this bother me so much? The answers to a lot of my shit is that I still haven’t fully healed mentally from my trauma.”
