Rappers need to have a presence on social media and the internet in order to be successful in this day and age. Both platforms can be beneficial, but it can also be a nuisance when people use it to target and troll celebrities.
During City Girls’ recent interview with i-D magazine, JT and Yung Miami revealed they’re largely over Twitter and the internet.
“Man, lemme tell you something,” JT said. “Put this in the magazine. At this point, I don’t give a fuck what nobody think. Dead ass. These people gon’ make up what they gon’ make up anyway. They don’t know me. They damn sure don’t know her. So I don’t care what they think.”
She added, “Twitter and the internet world have got out of control. Period. It’s out of control. People gave the internet an inch, and they done took a muthafuckin’ mile. People doing things for tweets, viral moments, comments. It’s not even genuine hate no more.”
Yung Miami agreed with JT’s take, saying it doesn’t matter what you do, social media and the internet will always nitpick and find something to drag through the mud.
“You could give a million dollars, and they be like, ‘All you donated was a million dollars?’,” Yung Miami said. “You could be a fucking perfect person in the world, and they still gon’ pick out something about you that they don’t like. At the end of the day, it’s your life. You cannot live to make other people happy.”
The City Girls have gotten into all types of feuds on Twitter and it doesn’t seem like it’ll stop anytime soon. JT was recently in the middle of a nasty spat with Lil Uzi Vert’s ex-girlfriend Brittany Byrd. Uzi’s ex left some tasteful comments under a post of JT and Uzi’s photo shoot which led to the City Girl to diss her.
