Chris Gotti To Meek Mill: “Make A Hit Record”

Record producer Chris Gotti chimes in on the Drake and Meek Mill rivalry and advised the Philly rapper to focus on making quality music, in a recent interview with VladTV.

Gotti says he’s only heard the diss record coming from Meek one time and shared some advice with the Dreams Worth More Than Money rapper.

“All of this doesn’t matter,” Chris says. “Make a hit record. Get people singing your record. Get them there, you know what I’m saying? And that’s it.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Chris details Ja Rule evolving from a battle rapper to a Rap star.

“The evolution of Ja Rule as an artist is unreal,” he says. “He used to battle Rap. He used to battle artists. Irv or myself used to take him anywhere and he was battling. Bar-for-bar with artists, just going and then he found his niche. It was his formula.”

That formula Chris is referring to is the combination of both singing and rapping on a record to which he credits Ja Rule for coming up with.

The full Chris Gotti interview with VladTV is as follows.

    1. Hate when I read bullshit like this…..muthafuckas like Ja Rule, Nelly, Drake, etc., really think they started the whole singing/rapping shit but never give props to the originators who did it first……Bone Thugs n Harmony. Ja Rule came up with this style? GTFOH lol…..nobody even knew a Ja Rule when Bone was selling millions using THIER STYLE

      1. Even Nas and Pac sang and rapped on their albums way back in 95-96 ja didn’t start that shit common now

      2. Reply to Don

very true… and then even farther, Arrested Development.. songs like Tennessee, Mr Wendal, People Everyday.. I need some time to ease my mind..

      3. Nah, the fugees made ok to rap and sing…btnh didnt sing, not one bit, they just rapped fast…..fugees made it to where you could have a rap album and everybody rapping and singing….lauryn hill and wyclef created that style

      4. Bro?….. did you say bone thugs n harmony didn’t do singing rap!?!?! You’re dead wrong for that bro!!! The word harmony is in they damn name!! Lol…. you don’t know what you’re talking about!!!

      5. Bro, please go back and read what I said cuz no disrespect but you sound foolish. I said Bone started that shit imo…..come on now, how you possibly get anything opposite of that from what I said?

    2. Ja rule didn’t battle anyone…..lets not get it twisted…this chris guy need to lay off the coke…and anyway, who the fuck care what this piece of trash has to say.

    3. Did dude say that he should make hit? Where was his advice when he was battling 50 cent? I guess he shot himself in the foot again. Pun intented

    4. i guess that makes Meek Mill Ja Rule… its funny cause on his diss record Meek said “this that ja rule and 50 Cent shit”.. then 50 clowned him and he got all in his feelings

    5. Ya’ll gotta be kidding me! Listen to Rob Kenner by KURTIS BLOW! KURTIS BLOW is the first rapper to blessed with a booming, elastic, singsong voice. Drake is doing what he was doing in the 1980s.

    6. The title is extremely misleading. I see hiphopdx is still reaching with their headlines to grab attention. This is the definition of horrible writing–no form of artistic writing nor originality. I bet this post get deleted like my other posts. If you’re gonna practice censorship, please just disable the comments so that no has the opportunity to post a comment. Rather than giving the people the opportunity, only then to delete the comments you didnt like or agree with.

    7. Meek should hook up with the Ying Yang Twins and write the follow-up of “The Whisper Song”. Guaranteed hit.
