Chance The Rapper has taken a page out of JAY-Z‘s book with the announcement of a “B-sides” concert.

On Thursday (February 1), the Chicago native took to Instagram where he announced a “B-sides & Seasides” show on February 16 at the Ramova Theatre in his hometown.

Though Chance didn’t explicitly cite JAY-Z in his announcement, the rap legend famously threw a B-sides concert back in 2019.

Held at the iconic New York City venue Webster Hall, Hov brought out a slew of famous friends — and former foes — during the suited-and-booted show, including Nas,Cam’ron and Jim Jones.

At one point, the Roc Nation mogul asked his longtime engineer Young Guru to lower the bass as he delivered a two-minute long freestyle dedicated to the late Nipsey Hussle.

“Gentrify your own hood before these people do it/ Claim eminent domain and have your people move in/ That’s a small glimpse into what Nipsey was doing/ For anybody still confused as to what he was doing,” he spit.

In December, Chance The Rapper took to Instagram Live to update fans on his long-awaited sophomore album Star Line Gallery and also had a bit of fun at his followers’ expense.

“My album’s coming out next spring!” he said while noting that there were only “about 500 people” watching his stream. “Nobody loves it when I’m doin’ good work, for real!”

Chano has been hyping up Star Line Gallery for quite some time, although concrete details have yet to be revealed.

Last summer, the Acid Rap MC hyped up his upcoming LP by declaring: “It’s merched I got the best next album outta all the n-ggas that have a next album [three weeping emojis].”

“Merched” is Chicago slang for “proven,” so Chance seems fully confident in the statement.
