Cam’ron stepped away from the sports desk to offer his thoughts on the Pusha T and Jim Jones battle, clarifying that he knows which side he’s on despite no longer being in the game.
On Wednesday (June 28), the rapper-turned-sports-commentator weighed in on the war of words between King Push and his longtime Dipset partner. The back-and-forth between the two has gone on for a few months now, and Killa Cam has now chimed in to make his position clear.
“Naaa Push!!!” he wrote in an Instagram post. “Me and capo definitely don’t be on the same page all the time. But I don’t go against the family (Harlem) don’t use no old problems we had to try and win a battle. Get in dat booth. U nice but @jimjonescapo got u on the ropes and u aint Ropa-doping!!”
He signed off by stating that even though he might get pulled into the exchange, sports journalism is his primary focus now, writing: “And I don’t care if y’all put me in y’all bars I quit. I do sports [three laughing emojis, four eagle emojis].”
The ordeal recently escalated when the Clipse debuted a song at Pharrell’s first Louis Vuitton show on which subliminal shots are seemingly fired in the direction of Jim Jones. On the track, Pusha T appears to accuse the Harlem rapper of cuddling up to his nemesis, Drake, in order to get a guest verse.
Jones subsequently responded with a diss track titled “Summer Collection,” in which he pulls no punches with heavy-hitting lines like: “These two roach n-ggas don’t know what to do with no ray/ Kanye gave you whips/ But that’s what they do to the slaves,” and “My Name Is My Name/ But they ain’t screaming yet/ They talking about the rapper came/ But we ain’t seen it yet.”
Sending further jabs, Jones spits: “The only beef you know n-gga is Arby’s or the Big Mac/ We don’t drive through/ We drive by in the car with the big mag/ That last shit you dropped/ That shit was garbage/ Take that shit back/ Plus you got your brother rapping/ What?/ You tryna bring the Clipse back?/ Talking about your brother/ What happened to that boy?/ Looking like if they’re selling crack to that boy.”
Jones has since kept his foot on Pusha T and No Malice’s necks. Soon after the release of his rebuttal, he took more shots at the VA duo while discussing the brewing rivalry over the phone to Joe Budden.
The Lobby Boyz rapper called into the latest episode of The Joe Budden Podcast to chew over his and Pusha’s recent lyrical exchange, which he said is “all fun and games” and “a true display of wordery.”
However, that didn’t stop him from unloading more clips at the brothers Thornton, branding Pusha T “a worker” and No Malice “a preacher who works at Walmart.”
“Who’s gonna spin the block for him? Is Pharrell gonna spin the block for him? Is Malice gonna say a prayer? Who’s gonna spin the block for him?” Capo asked. “I’m talking about musically, too. I ain’t talking about thug shit — we already know I can do that. Who he got that’s gon’ spin the block for him? Malice is a preacher who works at Walmart.”
Addressing Push directly, he added: “That n-gga’s a worker. He’s still not a boss. He still has to answer to everybody in his circle.”
Jones went on to clarify that their conflict is “a rap battle” not “rap beef,” adding: “This is about pure music and styling, and he don’t got it. You always wanted to be a New York n-gga; you from VA, the suburbs.”
Camron is retarded
Jim Jones response was OK but to say he’s got Push on the ropes?? C’mon Cam’ron, let’s not be delusional.
Family is still family. Fck is he supposed to say?
So because you’re family you’re supposed to lie? He easily could have said I’m going with Jimmy. By saying he’s got somebody on the ropes implies JJ is beating Pusha’s ass lyrically which we all know hasn’t happened.
Nothing…he should have said nothing. Making it worst for his man lol
You got it
Those aren’t the lyrics my guy u didn’t even try.
You must ain’t never heard Jim rap, that’s him trying!
Those aren’t the lyrics my guy u didn’t even try.
Folks said the same thing about the LOX Dipset Verzuz and look at ow that turned out. Lol
Dope MC but Cam will say anything to get people talking about him.
It’s hilarious how the post has a pic of him and juelz and not Jimmy. Lol
Not that malice is a Christian man that works at Walmart I’m weak
What part of the pusha’s verse mention Camron? Why does every post I see say pusha T mentions camron in diss record, but not one of these articles shows what bars are speaking about cam and jims situation.
Only issue here is Jim’s response wasn’t up to par … That wasn’t on the level of anything …
